In NC (8a) we have so many options for cherry trees. Just don’t forget to plant DIFFERENT varieties for cross pollination or you may not get fruit! There are a few self fertile varieties so if you only have space for one tree opt for something like the North Star Cherry (Zone 4-8) which can produce cherries alone.
