Generalife gardens, Alhambra ca. 1325 Jardines nuevos (new gardens), 1931 The name ”Generalife” comes from the arabic ”Yannat-al-Arif”, literally “the architects garden”, a most apropriate term. It is a summer palace, independent of the Alhambra itself, and laid out on series of parallel terraces on the Cerro del Sol hillside.
