Shaped Card Challenge at Craft CardMakers

Crafty CardMakers is having another challenge this week and the theme is shaped cards. This means no square or rectangle cards.

For my card I decide to make a circle accordion card. The die for the card is by Elizabeth Crafts Design. The paper is from My Minds Eye and is called Sunny.  I love the colourful pattern. The rubber stamped flowers and butterflies are a set of stamps and dies by Hero Arts.  The sentiment is by Stampin Up.  The images were coloured with Copics and a glitter gell pen.

Here are a couple of other views of the card.

Rubber Stamp Challenge

I made this card for my friend's birthday and thought I would enter it in a challenge over at Retro Rubber Challenge blog  RRCB30.  They were having a sketch challenge and this card is my interpretation of the sketch.

This is the sketch I was work from

To make my card I added Distress Ink to an acrylic block and stamped it on watercolour paper the added a Italian poem stamp to the water coloured area.  .

My Italian stamp is from Hero Arts and was made in 2006.  The flower stamp I used was by Stampendous and was made in 2006. The sentiment is a die cut from Tim Holtz and  the flowers were coloured with Distress Inks also. A ribbons was added to complete the card.

Telescope Card

A Yahoo group I belong to has a monthly card swap and this month's challenge is to make a card that is different from your normal  card style.  I chose to make a telescope card for this swap.   I also decided to use my newly purchased Brusho coloured crystals to colour my flowers, butterfly and background.

Here is my telescope card folded up.

Off the Edge

Meighan came up with another great idea for a challenge this week at Come and Get It, create a card that your stamp goes off the edge of your card.  It is a great challenge to try something different.  I have been playing with PanPastels and some mix media style backgrounds and incorporated some of the techniques and products in this card.

I first coloured my background with several colours of PanPastels then stamped off the page with the mesh background stamp by Stampin Up in several areas of the card. I used stencils for the spotted areas and flowers in the background and added a small flourish.

I stamped off the edge the Hydrangeas stamp by PSX  in several areas of the card then added additional colour with  PanPastels. The sentiment by Hero Arts was stamped on paper that I also coloured with PanPastels.

I edged the card and the sentiments with a Krylon Gold Leafing pen. and then stippled the the card with Gold Dimensional Pearls. To complete the card I added a gold die cut butterfly.

Thank you for stopping by to take a look at my card.  Come join us this week at Come and Get It

Happy Mother's Day

I had fun creating this Mother's Day card.  I was playing around with Distress Inks and a couple of background stamps and a stencil to make the background of the card. The writing in the background is a rubber stamp by Hero Arts called Italian Poetry and the hydrangea stamp is by PSX.

After I stamped the background I used Tea Dye and Spun Sugar Distressed Ink over some areas and then stenciled the dots with  Milled Lavender Distress Ink.  A heart die cut on textured kraft paper was used for the heart and then it was rubbed with Tea Dye  Distress Ink. The laser cut butterfly was coloured with Distress Inks and Gold Liquid Pearls and then pearls were added.  The flowers were some silk wedding flowers I had in my stash that I coloured with Distressed Ink.

To complete the card I added a fringe of lace and pearls that I found at the flea market and a key that I found in my stash.

Thank you for stopping by to look.  Now I am headed back to my craft room to clean up the mess.

Quilt Style Card

I made this card for a upcoming swap I am participating in for the Rubber Inkers.  The theme of the swap is a "quilt style" card.

I used a pattern paper from my stash that I did not particularly like on it's own.  The paper was yellow with pink writing.  I then with a cube block stamp by Stampendous called Foliate Quad Cube stamped with navy ink the four different patterns of the cube and then cut out my squares.

I arranged my squares on navy paper and punched a scalloped border along the bottom of the card. To complete my card I added a die cut flower by Hero Arts and a ribbon.  Hope my partner in this card swap enjoys her card. Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.

Welcome Little One

I unmounted my wheeled stamp by Stampin Up called Baby Tees to make this baby card.  I have never been good at using stamps on a roller and I really wanted this rubber stamp so when I got it I took it off the roller and mounted it on a cushion.  I thought of cutting the stamp into 5 individual Tees but did not go that far.

I used my Copic Markers to colour the images and then layered Graphic 45 papers behind the image.  The sentiment is a digital stamp I purchased from Hero Arts with a bundle of other baby stamps.

I made this card for the Come and Get it Challenge this week.  Please join us.  Need some inspiration , just pop over to their blog and see the cards created by the other design team members this week.  Everyone needs one or two baby cards on hand.

Gold Leaf Heart

Valentine's day is just around the corner so there are many possibilities to use hearts on your card. My New Years' resolution was to try and use product that I have not used for a long time.  This card was a great opportunity to get out my sticky embossing powder and gold leafing.  I used a set of Hero Arts' heart stamps that I have not used for a long time along with a sentiment from my collection of rubber stamps.

I edged the die cut with a Marvy Gold metallic marker and the background paper came from my ever growing scrap paper pile. The gold cord is off of a Christmas parcel that I could not help myself to add to my ribbon and cord stash.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative week.

A Garden Poem

Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, and Old Olive are the colors of this week’s challenge at Come and Get it Challenges. My card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest awhile ago. Pinterest is my latest place to look for an inspiring ideas.

The stamp I used for this card is a Penny Black stamp called "a garden poem". The sentiment is by Hero Arts. I layered my card stock, added some lines, cord, a button and inked the edges to complete my card.

I hope you will join us this week at Come and Get it Challenges. Be sure to check out the art work of the rest of the design team. They will inspire you as always. Remember my favorite quote by Maya Angelou: "You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have."

It is a Flower Challenge

Crafty Sentiment Designs this week has a flower challenge. I created this card for the challenge using a cover of a tourist magazine I picked up this week on a camping holiday. I loved the autumn colors. I used my Cricut and cut out a window to frame the image. I then used an embossing folder and some white ink to give the window some texture. I stamped part of a PSX stamp of flying geese in the sky of my image and then added my autumn flowers to the window box and sentiment by Hero Arts to complete the card.

Thank you for stopping by and have a creative day.

Hot Summer Colours

Craft Spots by Kimberly’s challenge this week is Hot Summer Colours (#61) and this card I made reminds me of a hot summer day. I used the upholstery technique that I saw on Gina K Designs web site a couple of weeks ago for the background and coloured the flower and the background with distress inks.

The flower stamp is by Hero Arts and the sentiment is by A Muse Artstamps. A ribbon and some pearls completed the card.

Thank you for stopping by and have a Fan-tastic day!

Day 3 - Time to Enjoy

It is day 3 as card captain at Enjoy Michael Strong Stamps and today I have made a tag using the Wrinkle Free Distress technique.  Once I had inked my background using the technique I stamp it with the “time to enjoy” sentiment by Hero Arts.
I then added to the tag a background stamp by Stampin Up and a flourish stamp by Quiet Fire designs.  To complete the tag I added of course the Cloisonné Crane stamp by Michael Strong and some fibers.

Well back to my craft room to see if I have a space to work or if I have to clean up.

Dragonfly on Mica

It is day two for me as Card Captain at my Yahoo group Enjoy Michael Strong Stamps and my card today is using Mike’s dragonfly and mica.  I love the effect of the leafing foil and PearlEx Powder that I put between the layers of mica.  The background stamp is called “Italian Poem” by Hero Arts which I edged the paper with gold embossing powder.  I also used an embossing folder for part of the background and rubbed it with metallic rub to tie the papers and the dragonfly together.

Well back to my craft room to stamp some more.

Happy Father’s Day Dad

This card was made for an upcoming Father’s Day card swap I am participating in.  I searched through my male themed stamps and decided to do a collage of stamps along with some layering, pop dotting and different textures.

The background faux stitching was done with my new toy, We R Memory Keepers Sew Stamper. The other stamps I used in making this card were by Just-Rite stamps (I would be lost...”), Hero Arts (dad) and Lasting Impressions by Panache (row boats).  No bling on this card but I did add some Magic Mesh and some Diamond Glaze for a watery effect under the boats.

Thanks for stopping by.

Double Z Fold Challenge

The technique this week at Come and Get it Challenges is the Double Z Fold.  You can find a tutorial on this technique on the Split Coast Stampers web site.
I made a variation to the tutorial by adding a sleeve to close the card.  I also used the distressed ink water colour technique to colour images.  I like the watery effect of the wet distressed inks give.   I used several different stamps for the card.  The panels of butterflies are by Michael Strong Rubber stamps, the “Just for you” stamp is by Rubber Stampede, and “It’s your day” stamp is by Hero  Arts.  The flowers are part of a Hero Art stamp and cut set , my new toy that I just love.
Now it is your turn to try the double z fold card.  Come join the fun at Come and Get it challenges.  http://comeandgetitchallenges.blogspot.ca/
Have a creative day and thanks for stopping by.
