Port Overview
What is Port 8880?
Port 8880 is used by IBM WebSphere Application Server as an alternate HTTP transport port. WebSphere uses this port for SOAP-based web services and HTTP connections in some configurations. It is also used by various IBM middleware products as a secondary web services endpoint.
Security Considerations
Port 8880 (IBM WebSphere HTTP) is classified as medium risk. While this service is commonly exposed, consider using encrypted alternatives where available.
Recommendation: Keep the service updated. Monitor logs for unusual activity.
