Minke Whales Facts!
The minke Whale is the second smallest species of baleen whales, growing to a length of roughly 25-30 feet. They are also the most abundant species of baleen whales.
The top part of its body is a very dark color (usually black or dark-grey) and there is a white band on each off its flippers. It is a stocky whale because of its layer of blubber which is several inches thick.
Like all baleen whales, the minke whale also has two blowholes. The spout of the minke is very low because it starts to exhale before reaching the surface.
The diet of the minke is similar to that of the blue whale. It consists of mostly krill and small fish. The baby whales feed on their mother’s milk.
