Kids just invent and create and jump in with a confidence that most adults lose touch with as they grow. Adults hesitate and worry what others think and judge the end result before they even start. How would you create things if you approached it with the freedom of a child’s mind?One of my favorite things to do in the pottery studio is to play and to tell a story with clay and see where it goes. It’s always fun to see a finished piece, but it’s the journey and the telling of the story that I love. And often I have a fun time telling a story about two tiny frogs in love, on a little leaf boat in a sparkling peaceful lily pond. I don’t focus on the end result, and I just enjoy smiling at these little friends. It’s fun to play in art and in life, and to see where joyful play will take you. 🐸 The ceramic jewelry dish here is made of ceramic clay. The lily pads are actually small nasturtium leaves. I roll the leaves into clay capturing their very intricate impressions. Aren’t the imprints lovely? And I always find it so satisfying to watch the color run through the patterns on the leaves. It’s like watching the leaf come back to life. The little boat is made of a small hydrangea leaf. And the frogs are sculpted from the same clay. The clay is painted with stains and underglazes. The shine comes from a layer of ceramic glaze- the piece is fired to 2200°F/1200°C. The gold is real gold and is added in a separate kiln firing.#artprocess #pottery #creativity | Vuvu Ceramics
