about

This song was written collaboratively by Itai Gal and Zach Mayer. The A section came to Itai over one Shabbos. When they were walking back from synagogue with Zach the following Shabbos, they shared the tune, and Zach sang back the "aranen, aranen" chorus. Then harmonies started coming to them, they went to Zach's house to play the song and then to Itai's later that night to record a draft version, and the rest was history.

The words are from Psalm 92 for Shabbat and uses feminine G!d language.

Itai draws upon ancient texts from his lineage and brings them to life with interpretive translations for our times; as it is said, "turn it and turn it, for everything is within it" (Pirkei Avot 5). ... more
