Driven by good intentions, pure ambition or maniacal obsession, you are attempting something that would shock most minds. As you play, you'll answer prompts about your experiment, it's terrible costs and how it affects the ones around you until either your cursed masterpiece is concluded or you see the light of reason and destroy it.

WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY

  • Six-sided die (1d6) and 20-sided die (1d20)
  • A place to take notes

HOW TO PLAY

REASON and MADNESS tracks start at 0.

Roll 1d20 and look up the prompt. Answer the prompt (some might have a list of suggestions to choose from or roll on 1d6). Mark any changes to REASON or MADNESS.

Roll for next prompt. If you ever roll on the same prompt again, you reached a breakthrough. Roll 1d6 and compare it with the value of the MADNESS track.

  • If the roll is below the current MADNESS value, mark +1 MADNESS. Describe how the new fase of your experiments corrodes your mind, breaks tabu or scars you.
  • If the roll is equal or above the current MADNESS value, describe how you avoided a pitfall, solved a puzzling problem or acquired an important upgrade to your experiments.

Keep rolling for prompts until either the REASON track or the MADNESS track reaches 6. When they do, answer the End Game prompts.
