Watching again . . .
Magpie Murders, an adaptation of the murder mystery by Anthony Horowitz. Clever writer, excellent cast.
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret
Never to be told.
Eight's a wish
ReplyDeleteNine's a kiss
And ten is a bird you must not miss!
I've never heard those lines before. Waiting now for someone to come up with eleven and twelve! 🤣😂
DeleteThat is so interesting!
ReplyDeleteIt's worth watching, if you like mysteries.
DeleteI've never watched it!
ReplyDeleteHe is a good writer though.
All the best Jan
I read the book a long time before I watched the adaptation.
DeleteI've never seen it.
ReplyDeleteIt might not appeal - we're all different.
DeleteLesley Manville is my favourite actress.
ReplyDeleteShe is excellent, and rather underrated, I think.
DeleteIt WAS very good.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteI've never seen it. I'll have to put it on my list!
ReplyDeleteI hope you will enjoy it if you do manage to see it.
DeleteI don't usually watch murder things but I thought this was excellent; also the following one (can't remember its name).
ReplyDeleteMoonflower Murders - and there's a third series in production, Marble Hall Murders. It's possible that Anthony Horowitz will write another book, provisionally titled Mile End Murders.
DeleteWhat is or was the secret never to be told?
ReplyDeleteNo-one knows! It was never told!
DeleteI like that, little poem. Such a fun one.
ReplyDeleteTraditional rhyme - we have a lot of magpies in UK.
DeleteI haven't heard of Magpie Murders, is it a movie or a series?
ReplyDeleteIt's a series on BBC television. I don't know how much makes its way to you downunder from upover.
DeleteI’d be up for that series, but it’s on a network that we don’t get at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame - maybe one day . . .
DeleteDid you sing it..
ReplyDeleteAlways! 🎶
DeleteHi Janice - that poem has resonated all through my life ... while the murder mysteries are fun ... the magpies are back here - thugs I call them! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThey are thugs, but I love them - cheeky, cocky, clever . . .
DeleteI am going to write this down and memorize it. Funny little rhymes like this is what goes through my mind when I'm on a bicycle ride.
ReplyDeleteOnce it's stuck in your brain you'll never lose it!
DeleteI've never seen it.
ReplyDeleteIt's worth watching if it ever reaches you.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this show...I need to check it out..
ReplyDelete😊
DeleteEleven for health
ReplyDeleteTwelve for wealth
Very good. 😊
DeleteI'll have to go look for it.
ReplyDelete😊
DeleteWe enjoyed that series too. Lesley Manville in 'Mum' was brilliant I thought, such a good actress.
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
She is so good. I did enjoy 'Mum,' though I thought it rather poignant.
DeleteOne of the many, many TV shows I've never heard of (or watched). Might be watchable here in the States on Britbox, but I don't subscribe to it.
ReplyDeleteSorry - I'm being very parochial again. 😳
Delete"The Feud," the TV show Dave and I just watched on Netflix (I think it was originally on Channel 5) also employs this rhyme in the plot!
ReplyDeleteI must watch that. It looks like a stellar cast.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched this series but I do like a good story, so I will check it out. Thanks, Janice.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it.
DeleteSounds like something for me, but I don't know these series, never heard of it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a BBC series - perhaps it will come your way one day.
DeleteSounds intriguing ... xxx
ReplyDeleteIntriguing is the word. The solution comes at the very end and is well disguised.
DeleteI quite enjoyed it
ReplyDelete😁
