You left me like a cliffhanger episode An unsolved crime and the case is getting cold But I'm holding on I'm staying in character This menu's got nothing but water I'll sip one patiently Waiting for my empty box delivery Modern ghosts don't make a sound No rattling chain notification Maybe they'll come around eventually Maybe they're stuck in the last century Maybe you're stuck deciding A policy prioritizing The avalanche of inquiries Modern ghosts don't make a sound No rattling chain notification Maybe they'll come around eventually Maybe they're stuck in the last century It never hurts to ask the question Nobody said buried on the other side Drop a quarter for connection Into a slot machine That never stops spinning Stare at the screen And hope that I'm winning Your answer Modern ghosts don't make a sound No rattling chain notification Maybe they'll come around eventually Maybe they're stuck in the last century Modern ghosts don't make a sound No rattling chain notification Maybe they'll come around eventually Maybe they're stuck in the last century

Sixty seven minutes On the urban highway Time to think about the biggest things Knowing that’s not all, we still have to come back home Total window of one hundred and thirty four minutes Time To think about existence While I cross the very very long distance You know cheap philosophy Is a hobby for me I like to read the notes That professor bowtie wrote why because, why because, infinite ad naseum Time to listen to a playlist While I cross the very very long distance keep your eyes on the road ears sail off on their own When you feel the harmony Let sad faces watch you sing From the other lanes they’re wondering what they are missing Time to talk to your love interest While you cross the very very long distance discover corners of their heart While you’re an arms length apart spin out of control on the bits you love the most It’s not stuck if you’re in luck to be stuck there together Sixty seven minutes On the urban highway Time to think about the biggest things Knowing that’s not all, we still have to come back home Total window of one hundred and thirty four minutes

Metal 04:10
Your stomach eats itself from inside out It feels like a punch, but it was just a shout And that's how they play the game Keep it out of the ring So they can get away with everything Too heavy to move Too hard to prove When the cops get there You need a bruise You need a bruise The words are wrong But you can't get them out of your head After seven times, you're the victim of an advertisement You think you're the one to blame For everything Too heavy to move Too hard to prove When the cops get there You need a bruise You need a bruise Metal grinding metal stains the air The oily smell hangs around The hardest metal grinds through everything Too heavy to move Too hard to prove When the cops get there You need a bruise Too heavy to move Too hard to prove When the cops get there You need a bruise You need a bruise

Some time between the previous and our more recent conversation Some wrong ideas have taken up residence inside your head Like a parasite hiding eggs in another mother's nest There's no dilemma for inhabiting The walls aren't real, you're imagining Your career is what we all feared You're chasing the end of the rainbow Your wristwatch would not be squashed By descent into open volcano It was an offer you could have refused The person we knew would not have been confused There's no dilemma for inhabiting The walls aren't real, you're imagining The castle you built is bleeding you dry It's your personal Stockholm syndrome You thought that you would not be the prince That you would escape out the window This is an intervention I'm not losing a friend to the alternate dimension There's no dilemma for inhabiting The walls aren't real, you're imagining We all have to mix some water with our wines But you're drinking poison and you say You say you feel fine You shouldn't feel fine

The Accident 04:14
I wish you were stone That could have taken the blow I wish you were rubber Reversing the force And bouncing back to life I wish you were wood I could glue back together I wish it I could do more Than remember There’s always a chance You would have agreed Knowing the end might be tragedy There was an accident They called us to say There was an accident, today You came for dinner And I made a stew The bourguignon was full of wine That’s why it tasted so good You didn’t worry About calories You knew the moment Was worth every penny You left me this tool Like you lended a hand I used it today I remembered my friend There’s always a chance… Riding my bike As the big truck speeds by Making me think of who I’d leave behind Don’t let my passing Make you afraid Keep on living Don’t share my grave There’s always a chance…

Purity 03:29
Purity It’s getting away from me Every year i feel darker It’s not who I meant to be I mixed the TNT I didn’t light it, but I knew what it did I closed the box, and I said “ready to ship” Now Is there blood on my hands? Probably It’s giving me bad dreams I don’t know exactly what happened Just a feeling that it’s haunting me I get no peaceful sleep Purity It’s getting away from me Every year i feel darker It’s not who I meant to be There’s a key Break glass In emergency But it doesn’t say what it costs What if it’s everything? Purity It’s getting away from me Every year i feel darker It’s not who I meant to be

Together 02:47
It’s so hard today to give a shit The bastards are running away with it The numbers don’t lie, not all truth has been told So don’t let them grind you down Your friends out there can be found The cheapest night on the town Sharing a laugh with them Even if it’s existential dread We’ll laugh in it’s face If we’re gonna get fucked We’ll do it together We’ll do it together We’ll do it together We’ll do it together

about

Post Nursery Rhymes are all ukulele songs. The songs on the album address various non-romantic life struggles. It's not "art comes from pain"....it's just life. There's no need to hyperbolize things - true life is real enough. Happiness is the temporary feeling of having most recently succeeded against some challenge. The absence of a challenge is boredom, not stable happiness. If you run out of personal problems to solve, there are plenty of actionable regional problems in your area available. Hence life is challenge, not pain. Good luck. Post Nursery Rhymes is your friend navigating all that with you Together (see track 7) and with a dose of optimism.
