About Me

I'm a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, who saves me. I love my family and friends. I consider myself blessed to have them. I love my church, where I work, my Pastor and other co-workers, and what the Lord has privileged me to do for a living. I find it hard to call it "work;" it's making Jesus famous!

I am happily married to the Lady Alex, for whose friendship, love, trust, and care I am deeply grateful. We have a sweet, sweet little girl and a gentle little boy, and live roughly 20 miles east of Columbus, the capital of the State of Ohio, in a little town called Pataskala.

I work at World Harvest Church as a member of the Executive Leadership team.

I am an instrument-rated private pilot (airplanes!), and when I'm not working or hanging out with my amazing family, chances are I'm flying or thinking of flying. General Aviation is certainly an amazing way of life. I typically fly out of KOSU (The Ohio State University Airport) or KLHQ (Fairfield County Airport).

I can easily lose myself on Wikipedia, caught in a loop of unending links down a tangential path of useless information. I once spent several hours reading about the moon ... and didn't realize it. Information? Yes, please! Let me consume it.

I'm totally a tech geek. I know a ridiculous amount of information about computer science, have mastered every version of Windows, macOS and roughly 4 major channels of Linux, and something like 28 programming languages.

I have been studying Biblical Hebrew for roughly 5 years, and plan to learn Biblical Greek as well. Especially for the Hebrew Bible, due to my progress there, most of the time now, I prefer to read the Bible in Hebrew. Translators do a great job, but they're not perfect! I highly recommend both to all believers. Even a surface-level understanding of the original languages can totally transform your understanding of the Scriptures and the God they lead you to. It's like going from 2d to 3d.

My greatest personal possession is my family. I seek to love them with all my heart, be a man they deeply love and respect, be a loving and caring husband to a God-fearing woman, and be an attentive, loving father to children who grow up in love with their Savior. I want to lead my family to my Jesus, the One who first loved me.

I believe the truest form of love is a gift of yourself -- a promise -- from one person to another, and the lifestyle by which that promise is lived out.

Recreationally, I've played tennis in a local league 1-2 x's per week for a few years. I've earned a black belt in Korean martial art Tang Soo Do, and have instructed others in the art. I work out at home as much as I can manage, usually while catching up on one of the many TV shows I follow. I also consider myself a gamer (more on that here).

I hope to not have bored you to death. If you’d like to discuss anything I’ve written here, or get to know me, I’m open for contact over here on the page meant for that.

Jay is brilliant and has telekinesis, but his real superpower is being the coolest person wherever he goes.

Hi! I’m Jay!

The very first thing I'd have you know about me - what I consider to be the central core to who I am - is that I do my best to follow Jesus. His words are spirit and life to me, and guide the overwhelming majority of my life. And He's never wrong.

I love my family and friends. I consider myself blessed to have them. I love my church, where I work, my Pastor and other co-workers, and what the Lord has privileged me to do for a living. I find it hard to call it "work;" it's making Jesus famous!

Jesus taught that all people should love God first... to love Him so fervently that by comparison every other relationship in life (even father/mother or son/daughter or brother/sister) should *look* like hate (but never actually be anything but love itself). He taught we should we love one another deeply, even our enemies, and that we pray for those who have ill-will or do evil towards us. Why? Because Man is made in the image of God. To love other humans and to do right by them IS loving God. However, our ultimate allegiance must be to the Lamb who was slain. His love for us and our love for Him should be the force that drives us, keeps us, and unites us.
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39

True power is Lamb power: The power one has to lay down his life for his friend, to put others ahead of himself. Never manipulating. Never self-serving. Doing no harm.

With everything I am and in everything I do, I hope to live out of a heart that puts Christ first, alone. Whether it be marriage, raising a family, work, or play – I live to make Jesus famous. I'm not perfect, and I mess that up a lot; so thankful God’s not finished with me yet. But I enjoy trying with all I’ve got.
