Good Mornin' Sunshine
Good Mornin' Sunshine
This volunteer sunflower showed up in my garden. The wild birds must have dropped a seed...all it takes is one lil' seed, dirt, and some water...God makes everything beautiful.

Note the half moon in the sky too. OH...and the fly is in there for a lil' bit of protein ;~)

May your day be filled with happiness~

Winter Solstice...The Big Day is Here!!

~Every day I look for unusual things to happen.
It keeps my life from being too dull.~
~Rosie Mass 1884~

Last evening was an unusual event...a lunar eclipse with the coming of the Winter Solstice. It was a beautiful, clear, cold night.

Winter Solstice Moon
On the eve of the Winter Solstice.

I took this photo just as the moon was rising over Hat Butte. At 10:32 PM our time, the lunar eclipse began....in my slippers, I watched for a few minutes...didn't even try to take a shot...and went back into the warm house. Yep, I was a weenie!!!

But hey...the really BIG DEAL is that the days will starting gettin' longer again!!!

YEAH!!!!!!

The Eve of Y2K~Where Were You?

Y2K...all the hoopla...as if the world would never be the same as we new it in 1999.

As we two-stepped, waltzed, and put in a few good swing dances at a truck stop honky tonk in Portland Oregon, we waited for midnight to arrive...wondering...would any or all of the predictions about the millennium actually happen???

Well...no, as you well know.

We celebrated ringing in the Year 2000 with our best friends; 3 other couples, and we called ourselves the 8-pack. We danced until the band wouldn't play any more, and then headed over to the 24 hour diner to have some breakfast...at 2 AM...

That seems like a lifetime ago...

Last evening while feeding...it was beautiful.

The years go by...

One of the 8-pack passed away just a few years ago...another couple has divorced...and the other couple we haven't seen for 3-4 years...

How strange that things you think are forever...are not...

The eve of the full "Blue Moon" rising over Hat Butte.

I remember wearing one of my drill team costumes that night. I don't do much "bling" but I guess I thought I needed to have a lil' sparkle that night. Rhinestones and sequins were required for drill team costumes and I had a lot of those.

Toasting at midnight with champagne in plastic glasses. Than more dancing...it was a great night. My Man and I couldn't have asked for a better way to welcome in the year 2000.

Testing out the new camera...but I really should
have been using a tripod. I didn't realize the
moon was going to be rising at sunset.

And here we are...living a life we hadn't even dreamed of a decade ago...life is good.

Tonight? My Man and I are staying home...eating Smoked Prime Rib and fixin's...watching a movie...and if we can stay awake long enough, we'll have a rousting game of cribbage.

But, we do have a bottle of champagne!! I'm even going to bring out the fine glasses.

We will raise our glasses and say "cheers" to my friends and fellow bloggers. We wish ya'll a wonderful New Year with many blessings!

This is as close to a full Blue Moon as I'm going to get.
Tonight it's cloudy and raining.
So, I'll take what I got.

My question to you...where were you on the eve of Y2K? Please leave a comment...I'd love to hear!

Happy New Year!!

Music to My Ears

Yep, I do like my music. And, I enjoy a variety of genres...not that I know exactly which genre each song fits into. I've kept my PlayList along the "Cowboy Song" type theme and many of you readers have commented that you leave my page open just to listen to the music...

Thank You for that compliment!!

But, I've made a couple of changes on my blog (hopefully for the better), and I'd love to hear your feed back. You've got three choices...oh decisions, decisions, decisions...

  • Live365.com "Saddle Songs"
This one of my favorite stations on Live365. They play Cowboy music. From ol' time Gene Autry to Sons of the San Joaquin, Wylie and the Wild West, Don Edwards, Ian Tyson, and everything in between.

  • gtyyup's Honky Tonk songs
My Man and I love to dance...that's how we met...in a bar with big dance floor and a live band playing country music. We love to waltz, two-step, west coast swing, one-step, swing, Arizona two-step...hence the Honky Tonk PlayList. We don't go out dancin' very often, but you can probably catch us cuttin' a rug in the kitchen on a Friday or Saturday night! FYI, I just started this list a couple of weeks ago and will be adding more songs.

  • gtyyup's Cowboy Songs
This is the PlayList that you've been listening to ever since I started blogging. I keep adding songs to it as I find them.

One of the things that frustrates me with PlayList is that I can't just put my favorites on it...artists and all that copy write stuff...but I know it's important. That's why I thought I'd try the Live365 widget and see how it works. Live 365 Saddle Songs has more of my favorites.

So, hit PLAY on any of the options, and please leave me a comment and tell me whatcha think! Let me know if they aren't working too would you please?

A few parting shots...

Cowboy...a dog on a mission.

Whiskey says Howdy!

Enjoy your day!

Sunday Stills

This week's Sunday Stills challenge was the moon...fairly appropriate since last Monday was a full moon! Luckily, we had a couple of clear nights...unfortunately, I'm lousy at shooting the moon!!

I used the "night" mode on my digital, and it seemed to over expose the shots so the moon looked like a flaming ball.

Well, these were about as good as it got for me...

This last shot actually had enough clarity to see some semblance of detail of the moon. I would have had more fun if hadn't been freezing out, and I wore something warmer than just slippers on my feet!!

If you want to see more "moon shots", visit the comments on this post at Sunday Stills! I'm off to check them out myself~~
