Mission Statement
The Rhode Island SPCA protects and cares for animals . We do this through our Humane Law Enforcement Department , as well as our shelter programs including adoption , veterinary care , humane education , and pet owner assistance programs .
background Founded in 1870 , the RISPCA is the oldest animal welfare organization in the state and the 3rd oldest in the country . As an independent non-profit , we are not affiliated with the ASPCA or any other animal welfare organization .
Brag lines In 2023 , 1,044 animals were adopted . Our humane education team reached 2708 students in RI schools and hosted an additional 250 students here at our new facility in Warwick . Our veterinary clinic performed 1,356 spay / neuter surgeries .
