Today, as I reflect on Good Friday and on the death of Jesus Christ, I reflect on my visit to Golgotha outside of the old Jerusalem walls. I am reminded of God’s grace and Christ’s shed blood. I am reminded that He gave up His will and His life for us, so that we might live and have life more abundantly. I am encouraged and reminded that in order for us, for me, to live a life that’s pleasing to God, it would mean giving up my will too. I found strength in the example of Jesus, even His words to the disciples to “take up your cross and follow me”. Today, as I remember Christ’s finished work on Calvary and how that work was done for you and me, I encourage you as I encourage myself to let God’s will be done over our/my own. Have a great Good Friday, remembering Jesus Christ and the price that He paid for you and I on Calvary. Here, on Easter Sunday, we rejoice at the news of the resurrected king. He is risen! I love reading about the resurrection which is why I have included the photo of the passage (I want to put photos like this on here more!)
But on a side note, I have recently been reading Ezekiel, and it is certainly an interesting read. I came across Ezekiel 46:9 today:
‘No one may return through the gate by which he entered’
NRSV
This holds a lot of metaphorical significance! In light of Easter and the Resurrection, it is because of Jesus that we never have to return to the path that we were on.
The people entered and exited different ways, showing a that a change occurred in the temple. A reminder for us that when we enter into the Lord’s house, we never leave the same. We are changed forever because of our interaction with him. We leave His temple ready to face the day and ready to live for him.
I loved this verse so much that I wrote it out on a post it note and put it at the front of my bible. Serving as a reminder that whenever I come to God’s word, I should never leave the way I came.
Let us see who Jesus is and be changed by His great love
‘See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.’
