It's January 2025 and it's rough. It's tempting to withdraw, to be quiet. And energy is low... There are genuine feelings of powerlessness and defeat. Making music – like any art – can feel frivolous, self-indulgent, even pointless in this context. But I've been thinking that maybe we could say fuck it. Defy the pressure to be small and quiet and instead make more music during 2025. Not less. Share more. Not less. Resistance takes many forms.

So, with all this bubbling in my head I've said yes to a lot of invitations. And I have a lot of projects in the works.

First up, I'm releasing a new 10-track album, Alterations. The first track, Unbroken, is out now and the other nine tracks will be written and released throughout 2025. Once they're all out there, I’ll compile them for a CD album on my new label, Silver Threads. More on that another time.

Subscribers can download or stream each track from the date it’s released plus some additional Alterations "remnants". For people who don’t subscribe, each track will be available to buy for a month from its release date. Or wait until the digital and CD album is on pre-order towards the end of this year. None of the tracks will be available to stream for free.

Unbroken was made using Midicake Arp sequencer, Blofeld, Mother 32, Bluesky, OTO BIM, 1010 Bluebox. It's created from three variations on the same sequence, improvised and recorded into the Bluebox one after the other. All three recordings were pulled into Ableton, layered, separated, EQed and compressed, and a 'string' (wavetable synth pad) arrangement added in the box.
