Canada has a quiet but rich history of bands performing what I can only describe as instrumental post chamber indie prog, and with Crossworlds, Joshua Van Tassel has cemented his place alongside the likes of Bell Orchestre, Torngat, Ferriswheel, Esmerine, Do Make Say Think and Godspeed You! Black Emperor among others. Looking forward to diving into the story behind the music!
Favorite track: Chapter 2: The Old Woman.
The new album from Joshua Van Tassel with accompanying novella written by Jordan Crute and Joshua Van Tassel and featuring illustrations by Geordan Moore. "Crossworlds" is a concept album with 9 pieces written to serve as a score for the tale of an Old Woman who is left to defend her small island from a force not of this world.

One of Toronto's most creative and talented music makers. Her records are a world within a world within a world of talking cats and beautiful sounds Joshua Van Tassel
Canada's best kept production secret. Dream at Harmony Motel is perfect pop mastery, and the Bear Lake is dreamy psychadelicness at it's best Joshua Van Tassel
This is my absolute favorite album of all time, words can not even begin to describe how much I love it. It nails the concept of dementia as an album perfectly 100/10. I don't know if I could find anything better than this. rod
This is his first proper collab with Music For Sleep, following his 2020 introduction to the label, Trittico, which was received to high acclaim. It's a classic example of what makes his music so mesmerizing and beguiling. If you enjoy emotionally charged ambient music that demands your full focus rather than something to simply ignore or fall asleep to, then this is an album worth taking your time to explore. david_86 [phoan]
