These Shapely Scarecrows make practicing 2D shapes a lot of fun. Completed scarecrows make an adorable bulletin board or hallway display, and are especially sweet twirling from the ceiling. Ive included several posters to enhance your display. This is an easy-easy cutting craft, which will appeal to a variety of ages & skill levels, making it simple to diversify your lessons. The scarecrow is made up of a circle, rectangle, square and triangle, with patches for an oval, hexagon, pentagon, octagon & rhombus, so these additional 2D shapes can also be covered. Even the skirt option, is a 2D shape, the trapezoid; and the jeans start out as a rectangle, with a triangle snipped out to create the pant legs. Ive also included a short, 2-part poem to further reinforce the 2D shapes. Add to the creativity, by having your students name their scarecrow. We dabbled with alliteration, and came up with names that start with the letter S. Need some suggestions? There are 2 posters with over 100 names to jump start the imagination. This craft pairs perfectly with my scarecrow-themed 2D Shapes Activities packet. Click the LINK to take a look.
