DRINK ME....ET AL

                                                      SPRING STRINGS
                                                      sewn into blocks
                                                   now to re-arrange them.....

But, wait a minute! I still have these leftovers.....

too short to span these foundations...
and so.......

Remember Alice in Wonderland picking up that
bottle that said "DRINK ME!"
...and she shrank down so that she
could fit in the little doorway?

Well my strings have had their "drink"
and shrunk down so that I now have to use the next
size down foundation...

i am on the middle one now.....[the one that says "products"]

I always have extra ones in my foundations drawer that I
have cut from  old phone books;
even rectangular ones...(waste not--want not:}}} )

Here is one using smaller blues....

and that is all I could eke out of the leftover blues/aquas....
I am trying to make these blocks all in one color family...

AND..............
I am now tackling the yellows.....I have quite a few of those
strips left so,
I may be able to get 2 blocks???
I am not going to sew strips
end-to-end as I have in the past...
but rather, just use them as they are...
******************************************

Here's our new carpet with almost all our furniture moved back in...
And speaking of "backs"...we are both nursing sore ones today..so
the rest will have to wait ....

I really love that soft tweedy look ..💓💕💗
[and now can you see just why I HAD to buy that jelly roll]

Here's another view from the Hallway....and
those are the two new rocking-swivel chairs...
and so today................

this is where you will find me.....;))))
hugs for a wonderful weekend,

STRINGING ALONG and WOE IS ME

Here are the latest Spring Strings blocks.....

Today, I sorted what is left  of my string scraps into colors:
                                     (sort of) ;)))

these are the only ones left...

                                                    AND
                                     these little corner triangles
                                        [from
                                            what was going to be
                                                   a broken dishes piece]
BUT: every time I sewed them together
                                       they wonkified on me....(sigh)

So I am using these for block corners..

When all (or most of )these strings are gone
the piece will be deemed finished......

As I am pretty much randomly picking strings for each block, this
is turning out to be a
                              "String Vortex"...or (string vomit!!) --piece

I am:
not over-thinking anything...

I am not {obviously}
doing matchey-matchey
or
taking too long to pick and choose either.......
And as,
I am in love with any kind of scrappy quilts-
the clashings .......just are what happens...

(I am sure some of you out there are gnashing your teeth!
and thinking to yourselves: " Wow" does that go with
THAT?????? What is she thinking???)

See, that is the point, I am not thinking...just pulling
strips....

I don't want to see A N Y of these
                           S C R A P S
                              hanging around...
                                       AND......
                        **somehow I cannot bear
                                                  to throw them out...**
************************************
Now for a very sad tale of woe....

Remember this piece I finished [from Lori at Humble Quilts] ?

Look what happened when I tried a
"so-called" wash out pen to begin marking
                                   for quilting.....aaargh--oooh noooo...
                                               DISASTER.....

I have washed and washed and put white vinegar on it--BUT
it keeps on coming back.... (S I G H )

I guess I will just  have to just remove the triangle
and put a new one on it...😒😢😡😠😟---if i can find the same fabric--
or as Cathy says take all four off and replace them all....
No more marking pens for this gal....
Has this ever happened to any of you???

hugs, Julierose, La Blageuse (scrubbing away-euse);((((

THIS, THAT AND THE OTHER

                                                                       TERRI'S BUTTERFLY

I've finished hand quilting this piece and...............
I feel that, for me,
there's way too much quilting going on...
I am not much for the overall "wrinkly" look...
I am much more used to tying my quilts and quilting sparsely....

Well...here is the back anyway....

And here is a view of each oriental-themed string blocks:

with the partial geisha
faces....

Did you find all the faces?? ;)))

This very last one only has a piece of a geisha's headdress
peeking out....

This was the absolute last little corner of my geisha fabric, but..
I went on etsy-- and on the very last page of my search
                                  GUESS WHAT?????
I found another yard of it...and snapped that baby right up....

                   That really made my day....;*}}}}

*********************************************
And here is my progress on Spring Strings:

I have 10 and 1/2 big blocks so far......
soo....
that is 42 separate quarter blocks
and YET>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

LOOK at my scraps!

                                   HOW can this be......?????

I don't think they've been whittled down very much at all...;0000

but, I will say that  the range of available colors has been cut
a lot--

so, each little block is a bit harder to put together
and takes more "thinking" .

More blues have been added and there are
fewer yellows or greens in my pile...

I am not planning, so to speak;
still pulling semi-randomly;

and, not thinking of the "Big" 4-part blocks or trying to
coordinate those...just each smaller quarter....

We'll see how it comes together...
So far the Nine Big (4-part) blocks are sewn together--
[but not to each other as yet--]

I am trying not to shuffle too much--
as that way lies madness....;000
they are pretty much in the order as I finished them.

AND
I am still doing 2/day ...
amazing how fast they are mounting up..

****************************************
I don't usually make lists, but when I looked in my
spare closet this morning I saw this array:

Many, many small and medium and-- 3 large projects
either to be layered, quilted and/or bound
hanging there:

12 here

And:
                                            Eight more here
that makes :TWENTY finishes ahead of me....(ack)

.....SOOOOOO, why am I working on new ones, I ask???
?Quien Sabe?

One of the mysteries of my life....;))) and
quilting, I guess...

RAINY DAY WORK

My version of Angela's Tiny Tuesday Block --isn't this just the cutest string
umbrella--I could not resist since I am making Spring Strings anyway.

I used the same paper blocks [5"] that I have been
using for my Spring Strings and my bountiful leftovers...
And a new piece is born--
{squirrelly moi--drop everything and do it}.
I think I will try to make a small scrappy rainbow of umbrellas..
what fun!!;))
*******************************

Here is the secret project I made for my blog friend, DAWN at [click]
for her birthday today and in memory of her little kitty, Phoebe,
who passed away ......;((((

                            HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAWN.....;)))

I only hand quilted the white area around Phoebe..

Here is the reverse using the last of my favorite fabric--lower left is
a woman quilting, right is a man fishing, and at the  top is a lovely
old-fashioned home....

isn't that just scrumptious?

I hope that this little piece will bring warm memories to Dawn and Rich....
of their beloved Phoebe............💙💙💙💔
****************************************************************
My Spring String blocks are mounting up at two/day.........

                                                    A rainbow of OJOS.
This Spring String piece is not as planned as my other pieces--
I am pulling haphazard pieces out of my mash-up of leftovers....
so a true scrappy one...
AND...........
I have a lot more strings leftover----
 OH! ..............................and those little triangles
[that began their lives to become broken dishes--but no matter
how I tried ;((((  when I sewed them together
they came out all "skewgey"]
have just morphed into perfect little corners
for my Ojos work..PERFECT!!

TWO A DAY

                                          SPRING STRINGS
I am doing 2 per day for April....I find that each two take about
one  to one and 1/2 hours-- between getting up to iron each seam and choosing from the leftovers...

[they are time consuming, but I only have one paper seam to rip off
as I fold the papers back before sewing, using the paper just to
measure each strip length...]

Right now I am trying to incorporate the "blues" leftover from Snowballs and
those mauves and/or purples from Stone Soup -- am trying not to
"dither about "too much in my choices...

AND
I want to use more of that yellow-blue mottled fabric that I hand dyed (in another lifetime--a Summer long ago when my daughter was into tie dying
in our backyard....fond memories of tee shirts and such)--
I think it lightens the whole shebang up a lot...

I haven't sewn these together as yet so I may be shuffling them about
(ya think? but that way may lead to utter madness...;000
what am I --crazee???).

********************************************
I just finished and mailed out that secret project this morning--I had started it
in January but then the EYES happened--so was happy to get this one done
and mailed out...
I will post a picture  (and, of course, a story--wordy moi!!)
once my friend receives it...

******'********************************
It's not June in January" here-- it's JANUARY in APRIL!!

Constant wind right off Long Island Sound; so C O L D!!!

I did my exercise inside on my recumbent bike this morning after our
foray to Big Y to pick up a few items...
Thom is making his sauce for
our supper tonight and we needed plum tomatoes..
I cooked yesterday,
so he's taken over that today..
and tomorrow we will have the leftover
chicken and rice...so two days with no thinking of a menu
or cooking for me...
so
more sewing time and reading and diamond painting...AND
speaking of THAT --
I can SEE to diamond paint once again...;)))

Here's:                                 My Little Christmas Girl

She's bringing a basket of goodies to a neighbor for the holidays...;))))
So cute...

Hugs to you all
