QUIET DAYS, et al

I have made some progress on my
embroidery project...
S  L  O  W  L  Y...

I've finished May, June, and July--
And am now working on August...

I only do two thread lengths per day
to save my hands from cramping...

Stopping in the middle of stuff is totally
new to me--I always have pushed on
to "finish" whatever--but
time does bring changes and
I am trying to S L O W myself
down...

I had begun this piece with the thread
that came with the kit--so, as some of you
who are "eagle eyed" can spot--
that thread had a very "orange cast" to it.

I don't like that for redwork--so I
 switched to a better red:
DMC Perle cotton ( 8)
Color 902:
a lovely deep, dark red...

↓↓↓

Can you see?  Can you see?
The little heart-shaped flowers are
that deeper red that I am using...
I like my choice so much better...
:))))))

The other project I have worked on is
a "Spine-ish" catalogue glue book
which I plan to use to practice
collage and layering--which seems
to be very very difficult for me to
grasp.!!! πŸ‘ΊπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘€

The idea of covering up lovely
pictures--
( or pieces of fabric for that matter)
doesn't seem to make any sense to me...

So this is a concept
I am experimenting with in
this new gluebook I've concocted.

I took a mail order catalogue and
folded each page to the middle and
glued it into place and then
used washi tape reinforce
each spine area:

Here you can see the pages are now
half-sized vertically and have
washi tape for strengthening...

It is a clothing catalogue and the
pages are just as they came to me;
I will be adding my own collages over them..

It should be challenging to see what to
cover and what to leave in place...
Nice change from starting with
all-white, plain pages.

Tomorrow morning, Tom and
I are going for our senior flu shots...
and hoping that we don't have any
reactions...;((((

We have an appointment for 11 a.m.
Soooo
I will be preparing everything for
our dinner ahead of time just
in case I start to feel funky...
πŸ‘½πŸ‘½πŸ‘½

I will be making my Chinese Chicken Hoisin
in my wok over steamed rice...
This is one of our favorite meals...

Take care and enjoy this long weekend
ending with Columbus Day...

MONDAY SUCCESS, et al

DH and I got our covid shots
early this morning--yay!!

Third time lucky-- as
the Nurse told us that after
our shots she only had THREE more
until their next delivery!!!
So far, no reactions
to the shot
from either of us..

Here is what I am working on
in short sewing sessions:
↓↓↓↓
The Old Italian Block

I am following Beth's ("My Sewing Room"
on YouTube) tutorial online....
They really go together so easily...
I have a few cut and waiting
in the wings...

I am only using cut offs
that can yield at least a
6" square (for the triangles),
and 2"x5" strips, with a
2" center...

All from leftovers
in my stash...

Here is the next one set up

I love that triangle fabric...
I've had it in my stash forever...
And my very old strip fabric...

Just using what comes to hand and
worrying about the final layout after
they are all made...

************************
This morning dawned cool, 45 degrees,
but nice and sunny...
We hope to go for a walk at the
fields later on when it warms up
a bit more...

************************
Simple celebration meal tonight
after actually getting our boosters:
πŸ‘΅πŸ‘΄
Cheeseburgers on our grill,
with fried onions
and french fries...

*******************
Oh,
and I have my Winged Strings
about 2/3rds pin-basted....

D4P's FLIMSIES,et al

My first orange D4P in its
"raw" untrimmed stage...
I am trying to "use up"
loved fabrics--I had no idea how to
use this cutlery fabric--
And
I have enough to back
this one, too.
πŸ˜†
Her is the second Green
"raw" flimsie
I love how this came out, too...
Also enough to back this
after it is trimmed.

"Use it up" June is here...

***********************
Our early morning coffee was
sitting out on our deck today..
and
I worked two more rows
on my Granny Stripe Afghan--
it is coming along...

Just a teeney bit on the chilly side,
so this was perfect for a little cover-up
while I crocheted ;)))

**************************
Tonight we will be having Corned Beef
(crockpot cooking--yes!!)
and simple boiled potatoes
with sliced veggies...
Y  U  M  !!!
[I am also looking forward to
sold leftover corned beef
sandwiches on rye
with tangy mustard--
Oooh yes!!]

******************************
Tonight is the preview of
the Spanish Grand Prix
Formula One Race
[F1]
And Tom's beloved
"This Old House"
series...so tv shows
all set for us...

My amaryllis is coming
along...
I staked it
in my favorite blue and white
pot...
It is sitting right on
my bookcase near my
recliner seat...

and
will this little sprout also
grow and bloom??
↡↡↡
I will be watching...

***************************I
I went to my early {8:15}
mammogram this
morning...
πŸ‘΅πŸ™€πŸ˜·

Our skies were brilliant reds, oranges,
and even lavenders on the
drive there...

and..
luckily, a chair was available
so I could
sit in between pictures...

***************************
Tonight will be an easy meal:
grilled hot dogs and
potato puffs with
pan fried onions as
the hot dog topping.

***************************
I am going to try to wind off some
fingering weight sock yarn later
on and cast on for a pair of socks...

We'll see how much I remember
as I haven't knitted in
 quite a few years...

QUILTING GEESE

I have quilted 35
Geese by hand so far...

Sitting at my
dining room table
With tea to hand...
;)))

The lighting is really good;
and
I can rest my arms
on the table;
which
seems to work well.

I can manage  to quilt 5 per day
without any ill effects.

***************************
Tonight's dinner menu includes:

Meat loaf, boiled potatoes,
green beans and
gravy....
*************************
It has been a sunny, but windy and cold,
day here...

I hope you are all staying
safe and wearing your masks
FOR

COVID is STILL HEREπŸ’€

TUESDAY'S FOUR, et al

                                                            COURTHOUSE STEPS...
I dug deep into my shelf piles; and found a few more Calico-
looking fabrics... and added those to the "lights" pile.

I guess that is what I really want more of-- calicoes-type
fabrics......not on white so much, as on a lightly tinted
background...(like 1980-90's style fabrics I guess);

these above were mostly of a  "peach" coloration,
but since this is a scrappy quilt (and king size!!)
I will take what I can find...
And, since this is going to be (hear me,  going to be!! hahaha)
king sized-- I think I will be able to
spread around the differing colorways
(she says hopefully;000)
**********************************
And
As in the food dept:  catch-as-catch-can tonight:
 BBQ'ued boneless pork ribs
done in the oven with Sweet Baby Ray's sauce and
potato salad --will be our dinner..

*****************************
Status on BJ's food delivery:

My BJ's list got smaller and smaller as they are out of stock of
a LOT on my list..
so today I will receive :
Potatoes, onions, saltines and jelly beans...(my own little treat).
that's all....
I will have to get very creative, right??

Seems ridiculous to have just these delivered...but they were
right out of a lot of things...;((((

I also have a cart at Big Y--but that won't be shopped until
Saturday...hopefully...
if this continues I will become another
masked and gloved shopper in the early morning...
despite the stricture that over 70's should not go out...
what can you do??

Take care,
Julierose, La Blageuse (still waiting on grocery deliveries-euse) ;000
