ROW-A-DAY CROCHET. et al

I am crocheting away on my afghan
each early morning.
One row
[--and sometimes 2--]
is just the right amount
 to allow me to
crochet without my
hands hurting...

I use this as a slow way to
ease into most days...
It seems to ground me...
The slow repetitive motions
are soothing...

Today I changed colors and
added this amazing
pink that looks like my
raspberry cactus
which is ready to bloom
↧↧↧
Another pretty color from
"Miss Babs" yarn online that
I had gotten years ago...

My Raspberry cactus sits
in between
the peach and white...
It originally came with buds already
blooming, but then abruptly stopped when
I moved it to this new location--
but now, it seems happy to be
with its friends :)))
Maybe I will have 3 blooming
at the same time...
What a treat on these
cold, gray days...

The good family news is that Tom is
feeling much better; and we
think/hope that this has
cleared up on its own; and
was most likely just a partial
obstruction; his plan to stop
food intake and walk a lot
[this is what his hospital stays
included]
seems to have worked...

P H E W !!!

AND
Jeff, is feeling better after testing
positive for Covid last
Thursday...πŸ˜“
He got really
sick--bed sick--
as he called it...
but  he is now slowly
feeling better.
Just totally exhausted...
and still symptomatic...

We shall see what this means
for our Christmas gathering....

Stay safe out there, guys;
latest booster + flu shots
to keep healthy during this
run up to the Holidays

It's still out there!!!

  2. Your afghan is lovely--that raspberry pink! I don't crochet and mush admnireyour lovely work.

I *told* you not to move the cactuses! They get sulky and stop blooming or drop buds. But if you must...I am so glad it recovered, so lovely.

Good new about Tom, hopeful news about your son. Is he the dad of the two little girls?

That's exactly the way I feel when I have a quilt in the frames. My son and family are gone from the basement and I look forward to getting a new quilt assembled on the frames down there. I've done quilting upstairs while they were here for the 1 1/2 years but it was mostly the small stuff. And, it took up a lot of room in the living room. The repetitive movement of quilting just calms me down as I listen to devotionals or watch TV. And, quilting first thing in the morning means I don't get as many interruptions.
Glad to hear Tom's doing better. My DIL is down with Covid too.

  6. You have so many pretty colors in the afghan. I'm happy to hear it doesn't hurt your hands but instead gets them ready to work.

The cacti don't like to be moved when they have buds but I sometimes have to move one and they seem to recover OK. I think some are fussier than others. Now you have 3 colors to enjoy. My orange one started blooming today.

  7. Hmmm - you may have answered the question I posed on my blog today about my cactus plants. I was hopeful it was just that they had been moved (albeit carefully by me) that was causing the bud drops. I love the colors in your afghan! And sadly I know others who are dealing with COVID.

  8. So glad to hear that your DH is feeling better and continued thoughts heading his way that he can continue to improve and avoid a dreaded hospital visit. So sorry that Jeff (your son?) is dealing with covid - hope he recovers quickly as well.
Doing a row each day on your afghan is a good plan (somewhat in keeping with the temperature blankets that are cropping up once again - and tempting me).
Interesting to read the comments about moving a cactus and how it affects their blooms. Maybe I haven't killed mine after all and it's just reacting to being brought home from the store. Fingers crossed!!
