The girls are revolting!

MD and I were sitting side by side each at our laptops this morning....  me catching up with blogfriends and he reading the ABC News, when he said "well how about that... the Australian Womens Cricket T20 team has won the World Cup - and,  as usual, it doesn't make headline news."

MD has, throughout the years, made a point of how well our womens' team play but for some reason the media don't consider them newsworthy. It has slightly improved over the past couple of years - nowadays they actually make the news albeit a few 'pages' in.

Well, this blog considers them darn well newsworthy.

"We were completely outplayed today by a very good Australian team," England captain Charlotte Edwards said in the spirit of good sporting mates.
....\/....

Now for the 'revolting' bit:
... and while we're on the subject... get a load of what's been happening to one of the members of the Aussie Women's Cricket Team, Ellyse Perry.

Ellyse also happens to have been the highest-profile player in the Matildas Soccer Team, however, she has recently been shown the door by the coach, Hesterine de Reus, who does not believe the 23-year-old can become a world-class footballer as long as she is playing cricket for Australia !!
Investigations are underway as players in the Matildas are in revolt at the coach for several reasons. To my mind, the treatment of Ellyse would be close to number 1.
