Meet Sangrak Choi (kargnas), CEO of OP.GG, product builder, software developer, and photographer based in South Korea.
I run a company called OP.GG. These days, I'm interested in various aspects of business, people's behavior patterns, and psychological factors.
Coding is practically my entire life. I started creating fan sites for Harry Potter and StarCraft when I was 11 years old. Before becoming a university student, I developed various game-related web services such as Nexus TK, TalesWeaver, and MapleStory. During my university days, I earned money by doing part-time jobs creating websites. My current company, OP.GG, is also an extension of the game-related services I've been developing since childhood, which gives me a great sense of pride. In 2012, I started OP.GG as a hobby project, but by 2015, I realized its immense potential. In 2016, during my third year of university, I made the bold decision to leave my studies and focus entirely on growing OP.GG. This marked the beginning of an exciting period, transforming my hobby into a business that could reach a wider audience. This experience taught me that unconventional paths can sometimes lead to the most rewarding outcomes, a mindset I continue to apply in both my professional and personal life.
I am a creator of IT products. My strength lies in coordinating between technology and product to quickly achieve the goal of "launching." Sometimes, I enjoy challenging myself out of a rebellious spirit to prove things that others deem impossible. Additionally, I have been thinking about the user perspective throughout my life and enjoy looking at things from the user's point of view in a company environment.
Currently, I lead a company with over 100 people and have 12 managers reporting directly to me. I have personally conducted thousands of interviews and hired hundreds of excellent talents. I have led and trained over 20 leaders, promoting them and guiding them to carry on projects. Based on the standard of submitted resumes, I have successfully hired the necessary talent while maintaining a hiring rate of 1%, considering various aspects, including company culture. However, personally, I enjoy working in small teams of 3-4 people.
I have extensive knowledge of various programming languages. With over 20 years of web-based programming experience starting from the age of 10, I have experience using PHP, Java, Python, C++, C#, Objective-C, Swift, and Go. From a young age, I have been very interested in hacking and reverse engineering, which I enjoy using to understand the principles behind how programs work, analyzing them, and finding hidden easter eggs.
When it comes to design, I have a meticulous and detail-oriented eye that goes beyond a mere hobby. I can easily spot small and seemingly insignificant errors, such as pixel misalignments or typos.
