'Light Beyond The Lines' is Kate Rusby's latest single, written for this year’s BBC Radio 2 21st Century Folk project. Each year, five folk artists are invited to write a brand-new song inspired by a true story submitted by listeners, all connected to a central theme.
This year, the theme was railways, marking 200 years since the beginning of rail travel. From hundreds of submissions, five moving stories were chosen and paired with five songwriters. Kate was matched with a truly extraordinary story from a lovely couple, Charlotte and David, based near Bradford. Their powerful and inspiring experience became the heart of 'Light Beyond The Lines'.
