Autumn Apple Bucket

4x6 watercolor and ink line on wc paper 140 lb cold press done recently as part of three line and wash exercises. First I painted bands of color on them then developed the subject over the paint, ignoring it if that makes sense. It gives a new dimension to an ordinary painting. This work is SOLD. Old Bike Basket of Flowers

18.75x15 watercolor vignette on 140 lb Canson cold press paper painted last week over a period of about 3-4 days. Another in my bicycle basket flowers series, I used several of my photos of bikes with their adorning floral bouquets. The white fence is a nice country scene backdrop for this parked bike. Wash Day on Yupo

15x11 watercolor on synthetic paper Yupo of a country house with the laundry wash on the clothesline, an imaginary scene that says all is quiet out in the rural area.  I placed a large tree to the left and other foliage behind the white farm house with a lush green grass lawn in the foreground.

Mollie's Chickens

5.25x7.5 watercolor on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper done this afternoon.  These are Mollie Jones' poultry and she has them in all shapes, sizes, colors, breeds, etc. on her farm in East Texas.  After yesterday's mixed media collage intense concentration I felt like painting these barnyard babes.

Thru the Fence

5x9 watercolor on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper with Daniel Smith paints, done yesterday afternoon.  There's something about old fences with vines and flowers poking thru that says country subject to me worth painting.

Day Brightener

22x30 watercolor on Kilimanjaro 140 lb cold press paper of orange and red daylilies and daisies growing through an old weathered fence.  A few years ago I first painted this country scene and even then thought it needed more work.  So I've now spent the day reworking its background and adding blooms, enhancing values, and trying to add a bit more punch overall.  There is something about worn out wooden picket fences that beg to be painted.
