Pasture-ized Milk
15x6 watercolor of cows on 140 lb hot press paper. These rolling hills were inspired by my many photos of England's terrain when visiting there in 2010. This painting's title is a pun for pasteurized milk and it is one of four chosen for exhibition in next month's Llano Estacado show in Lubbock TX.

Mary Had a Little Lamb
9x12 inks on paper done over this past weekend as part of a WetCanvas drawing event. Photo courtesy Valri Ary. In the reference this baby lamb was surrounded by its mother ewe and others so I omitted sketching them to focus on him. Tombow brush pens in black and burnt sienna were the media used with water on Cheap Joe's sketchbook. Now you can think perhaps by its title am referring to the popular nursery rhyme, or you could really stop and think about Mary, the mother of Jesus, who did have a little lamb, the Lamb of God. In this piece, he is looking towards the viewer as if to ask "Will you follow me?"

Follow the Leader Horse
9x12 watercolor on Langton 140 lb cold press paper finished today. These three pintos were one of many horses featured on WetCanvas in the Southwest/Western forum and ref courtesy Maria in Dallas. In the photo ( I used a black & white copy) the sky was virtually pale and clear, so I added a thunderstorm and clouds. Maybe this will make it rain.

Donkey Daze
5x11 watercolor of two donkeys discussing their days over the fence, developed from previous ink sketch. I'm not a landscape painter but will happily do one if there are animals, old barns, or people included. This is on Strathmore 140 lb cold press paper with Daniel Smith paints: Quinacridone burnt orange and gold, green gold, raw sienna, UB, thalo green, alizarin crimson. American Journey paints: Midnight Blue, Peachy Keen, Coastal Fog, Periwinkle Blue, and Apricot.

Sausage Patty
12x9 watercolor of the other white meat in its daffodil environment, a whimsical work that usually gets me smiling. Usually after doing a tight realistic painting I will do a fun one such as this imaginary scene on Strathmore paper. I used Daniel Smith paints.
