One truth about Africa is that we have always undersold ourselves. There is so much happening across our insurance and InsurTech ecosystem, yet much of the world still doesn't know about it. Yes, our insurance penetration remains low and the protection gap is significant. But that is only half the story. Across Africa, we have great stories of innovation. InsurTech startups are being built. Capital is being deployed. Partnerships are being signed. Global companies are entering the continent. African companies are expanding. And new opportunities are emerging across embedded insurance, digital distribution, AI, bancassurance, health, climate and many other areas. But who is consistently telling these stories to the world? It is with this in mind that our team at DOAGE ADVISORY has launched Africa InsurTech Pulse a weekly intelligence newsletter focused on: Startups,Funding,Partnerships,Deals ,Global Players ,Opportunities Our objective is simple: To tell the world what is actually happening in Africa's InsurTech ecosystem with data, facts, context and an African perspective. New edition of Africa InsurTech Pulse is out. This issue looks past the funding headlines to the actual infrastructure behind embedded insurance, profiling four African companies solving different parts of the same problem: Root's product and policy rails, Lami's distribution connectivity, Curacel's claims intelligence, and Turaco's mass-market delivery. Four different layers, one shared challenge, turning an insurance idea into something that actually reaches a customer, gets paid for, and pays out when needed. Dominic A. To the insurers, reinsurers, investors, accelerators and global InsurTech companies watching Africa: we should build together. The Doage Africa InsurTech Venture Lab is being designed around a simple principle: Great technology becomes valuable when somebody can commercialise it. We therefore want to partner with institutions that can contribute different pieces of the ecosystem. For insurers and reinsurers — access to innovation, pilots, capacity and distribution. For accelerators and innovation labs — a commercialisation pathway for companies graduating from your programmes. For venture investors and family offices — commercially supported African InsurTech deal flow. For DFIs and foundations — an opportunity to support infrastructure that can build commercially sustainable insurance innovation. For international InsurTechs — an African market-entry, partnership and M&A corridor. And for African founders — capital plus people willing to help build the commercial engine with you. We are starting deliberately small. Five companies. Build the model. Prove commercial outcomes. Then scale. If this sits within your investment, innovation or Africa strategy, I would be happy to start the conversation. 📩 venturelab@doage.co.ke Doage Africa InsurTech Venture Lab We are particularly interested in collaborating with institutions already investing in Africa's insurance and innovation ecosystem — insurers, reinsurers, DFIs, venture funds, corporate innovation programmes and accelerators. There is already important work being done by organisations across this ecosystem. Our ambition is not to duplicate it, but to add a strong commercialisation layer and build alongside those already moving African InsurTech forward. The corridor African InsurTech shouldn't only be funded by the world. It should also be bought, partnered with and scaled by the world. One of the ambitions behind the Doage Africa InsurTech Venture Lab is to build an international corridor connecting: AFRICA ↔ EUROPE ↔ US ↔ ASIA Why? Because the exit opportunity for an African technology business should not be limited to the next funding round. Imagine an African InsurTech that has solved a difficult distribution, claims, underwriting or embedded-insurance problem. Instead of a global InsurTech entering Africa from scratch, building an office, hiring a team and spending years understanding the market... Why shouldn't it: Partner with the African company? Invest in it? License its technology? Build a JV? Or ultimately: Acquire it? The corridor also works in reverse. International InsurTechs looking at Africa need localisation, insurance relationships, distribution and commercial execution. That creates opportunities for African insurers and technology businesses as partners. So when we talk about building an Africa InsurTech corridor, we aren't talking about networking. We are talking about: Capital. Distribution. Technology. Commercial partnerships. Strategic investment. M&A. That is the ecosystem we want to build. Africa's InsurTech story has mostly been told in headcounts and funding rounds. Doage is arguing that the next chapter needs a different scoreboard entirely. Founder Dominic Kavugwi says the sector's real test isn't how many startups get accelerated or how much capital gets raised it's how many sustainable insurance businesses actually get built. Revenue. Market expansion. Enterprise value. The unglamorous stuff that decides who's still standing in five years. It's a quiet but important reframe for founders, investors and operators watching the space because innovation without commercial execution is just a very expensive pilot.
