Roasted Curly Birch Thin

Curly and Roasted? You’ll definitely want to consider Roasted Curly Birch for your next project!

The torrefaction process turns the wood a beautiful chocolate brown and the curl can range from tight to loose (sometimes called flame). Oil finishes will make this flame figure jump out of the surface which will draw the eye. We’ve seen some beautiful furniture and decorative objects made with Roasted Curly Birch. It’s somewhat difficult to find, so grab some while it’s in stock!

In order to offer more protective packing for shipping - our lengths are often 1/4" less than sizes listed. Need a wider width or longer length? Please email us for a quote. Custom millwork charges will apply.

We will provide you with a 1/4" thick x 3" wide or 4-3/4" wide x 24" long, high quality thin board! These boards are flat, straight, and ready for sanding.

  • 1/4" x 3" x 24"
  • 1/4" x 4-3/4" x 24" (set of 2 pieces)

Working with Thin Lumber

4" and wider thins are resawn from a board thick enough to produce 2 pieces and then planed down to a finished thickness of 1/4". This milling process releases tensions in the board and may well induce slight cupping and/or bowing in the finished piece. These movements are normal and not considered "defects". They will not be grounds for a return or refund.

Should be a mens cologne scent!

Wow! What a great wood! The color is fantastic and the smell is like campfire meets cocoa powder! I had never heard of "roasted lumber" before but this birch is great to work with. It is dark all the way through and cuts well even with a semi sharp blade. A nice cost effective dark wood for projects and the grain was decent.

Nice pieces

The roasted birch was great, nice end grain on it, went through the table saw very smoothly. The colour seems very uniform throughout
I'm a beginner and so far I've found this to be easiest type of wood to work with

As more of a general comment, my entire order was very well packaged (appropriately sized box, plenty of packing paper, bubble wrap etc.)

Will order here again in the future
