Caught the film at a film festival at a small village in Normandy. Ourselves and the 10 elderly villagers and 2 children loved it! Haven't laughed so much in ages.

Heavenly Recordings are very pleased to announce details of the release of The Kneecap Film Soundtrack, which will be available digitally today.

With a string of glowing reviews and handful of awards already behind it, the Irish-language film is one of the most talked-about movie releases of the year and the soundtrack features tracks from the trio themselves alongside Bicep, Fontaines DC, Orbital plus the film’s incidental music composed by Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante MBE interspersed with snippets of the film’s dialogue.

Already out in Ireland and the U.S., released last Friday, 23rd August, in the U.K. and out today in Australia, the film is based around the story of the riotous and ground-breaking Irish language rap-trio Kneecap and stars the band’s Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí in their acting debuts alongside Academy Award nominated Michael Fassbender, Simone Kirby and Josie Walker. Set in west Belfast in 2019, it chronicles how fate brings the trio together and how they then go on to “change the sound of Irish music forever”.

Just selected by the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) to represent Ireland in the Oscar International Feature Film category, the film previously scooped the ‘Next Audience Award’ at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and the ‘Audience Award’ at the Galway Film Fleadh in July.

Having released their debut album, Fine Art, to across-the-board praise in June of this year on Heavenly Recordings, last weekend the trio took the main stage at the Reading / Leeds festivals by storm with a couple of riotous early-afternoon sets. Additionally, with a festival-stealing 11am set in front of a rammed Woodsies Stage tent at this year’s Glastonbury behind them, they head out later this year for a 4-night sold-out run in Dublin in late October, a U.K. tour in November (extra dates already added in Glasgow and London after initial nights SOLD OUT) before rounding off the year with their biggest Irish show to date at the 6000 capacity Belfast SSE Arena in December.
