It's never been mentioned about the fact Rory was first born and his mom was single after Rory's dad left. He took care of the family. He did that and more. I repost pics ( which reference this comment) and I'm pretty unorganized. of a telling interview periodically because I attach them to comment here and can't stop saving his pics! Cytomegalovirus CMV. Never heard of it before. Rory Gallagher lead me to study a bunch of stuff. The interview is telling. When he slowed down touring he abused stuff and doctors gave him a "hornets nest" of prescribed meds. When he went for stomach pain ( a sign of liver failure) they gave him a large dose plan of Tylenol.....which is the number once cause of liver disease only causing his condition to escalate rapidly. In fact prescription meds are number one cause. He also drank more when not touring. They had him on steroids for whatever reason but that lowers immune system. He died from lung infection that antibiotics couldn't kill. Some articles say MRSA but that's not substantiated....his immune system was shot. The doctors killed him. His naïveté about pills killed him. We are living in a age of information overload but all in all I think that is a good thing. You might see him as a has been but his pretty much last two studio albums mostly DEFENDER.... are some of his best according to many and being his favorite as well. As usual, first impressions are usually wrong unless there a high ESP thing turned on. I love this man. He needed a strong but gentle woman to take care of him. He was shy about women and very discriminating as well so....to complicated for this sensitive yet driven guy. His brother said he couldn't boil an egg. He stayed in a Hotel lifestyle instead of his own house because of the "responsibility" that entailed. They tried it. He needed his privacy but couldn't manage usual household anything. A maid would invade his privacy. He so desperately needed to perform for his peace that some of the hotel band members were absent often found to be up stairs in his room jamming. They had to move him across the street to a separate but still Hotel maintained suite. So yeah. An odd fellow but self taught and genius. He even made somewhat bad voice acceptable as all a part of it. ( so did Dylan) Beware of becoming addicted to any lifestyle. It took me years to loose my sales person drive, don't take no for an answer, and it was affecting my peace and I finally learned acceptance! Seriously consider the idea. And good ole Ideas like...it's your brain. You own it. You tell it what to do. Those things like meditation or chanting etc...programming the mind to whatever....whatever is the next best thing for ya. Ok. My intuition was high this morning and so I just had my morning coffe spiel with you I started with CMV because it's activated after organ transplant. I don't think he had as Any form of autism really. Just a nervous driven temperament. His health had been bad for over 7 years yet they did not do much. Just doctors who obviously handled it wrong. So be your own advocate like I know you to be. He's dying man in this pic yet things went on as usual except a whole lot less touring. Like how you called in the drunk woman sitting crying then passed out in parked car? People don't do that kind of thing often enough. Plus Rory was a lot Leo and didn't like being told what to do, he directed his bands totally and you know was his own man.
