The client wanted to incorporate an Edwardian Style kitchen into the early 1800s schoolhouse home. With the small space, the client opted for a galley-style kitchen. She wanted to have an eat-in kitchen area that fits into the design of the kitchen. The design included an oversized cupboard pantry for ample storage while also hiding small appliances. 1.) Trim Details: We love staying true to an architectural style & time period. Throughout our home we used dentil moulding, wainscoting, and historic colonial window & door casing. We highlighted certain rooms—the Library, the playroom, and the dining room—with builtin cabinets and bookshelves.

2.) Timeless Electrical Fixtures: Outside we have iron lanterns and on the inside sconces paired with vintage pendants and chandeliers instead of overhead recessed lights throughout the home to create an “always been there” appearance. Appliances can also help create a timeless feel (or date a kitchen if not careful). We featured an italian range but kept the fridge, dishwasher, and microwave hidden.
