Sarah Catherine Gromek on Instagram: "Here is a sped up video of how I make the “sewn” effect on my faux leather pieces. I use a 20 gauge fine line applicator tool to add slip to the spaces where thread would be. In actuality this took me 25 minutes to do 🤣 #fineline #applicator #sliptrailing #handbuilt #ceramics #handsewn #handsewnleather #fauxleather #leather #mug #madewithclay #handmade #wip #studio #artist"

Jennifer Spring on Instagram: "I’m sharing some of my go to tricks when glazing my large bowls. I’m proud of my painters tape trick as I’ve done my share of wiping up messes! This bowl just came out of the kiln and it’s a biggie. All my bowls in this batch were a success and I’m so thankful. I will have this one and several others in my release next week. 🎉 #seattleart #seattleartist #modernceramics #pottery #ceramics #jenniferspringceramics #handmadeceramics #ceramica #contemporaryceramics #handmadeart #wheelthrown #wheelthrownceramics #handcarved #glazingpottery #glazing"

Diane Sanfilippo | Ceramic Artist & Teacher on Instagram: "Do you wax?! Waxing can be satisfying to do if you have a system! Pre-plan: collect up all your bisque to batch this task as much as possible. MY TIPS: 1) use a GOOD banding wheel, like this Shimpo one, or do this seated at the wheel! Center your piece and you’re good to go! 2) use a wax with good flow. I like this @penguin_pottery one, you can find it on Amazon. One container lasts me a very long time. You can even thin with a touch of water jf you need to. 3) I prefer using a foam brush to one with bristles because I feel it holds and then distributes the wax more evenly. However you choose to apply wax, take care to not drip on your way to waxing the base. I sometimes place my opposite hand under the brush while I move it t
