9.8M views · 26K reactions | I Gave Myself The Butterfly Haircut | hairstyle, video clip | It didn't go so well at first... BuzzFeed producer Spenser (@thirdpea) takes us through the emotional rollercoaster she went through trying to recreate... | By Tasty Home | These two ponies and now, we're going to cut 'em. I need a haircut. Do you see these ends? These ends need a trim. First, I need to fix these roots. And we're back. I am going to be giving myself the butterfly haircut. What I know the butterfly haircut to be is very bouncy, lot of layers. Now, I don't know if you can tell but my hair is all one length. I need some movement. I need some fun. My hair currently, boring. Apparently, according to this you're supposed to have your hair wet. So I'm just following the rules. You're supposed to find the apex of your head. Okay so supposedly you can either do the apex of your head which I think is the highest point of your head. I feel like my head isn't my head very flat. I feel like my head's very flat. Am I wrong? Gonna make a part from behind one ear all the way over to behind another ear and pull all that hair forward and put it in a ponytail. I'm going to do from the middle of my head down to behind my ear. I feel like that's right. Okay, hold on. And then you put it in front of your head in a ponytail like you're a unicorn. I'm a unicorn. Now, let's put the back up. Okay. So, I'm putting my hair up in this high ponytail. So, it's supposed to be a high pony and like the top of your head. This is what we're working with. These two ponies and now we're going to cut them. Okay. So, listen. They say to cut off like a lot or else you don't see a difference but I'm trying to keep my length and going big or going home. No. I am strong in my conviction that I'm only going to take off like this much which also is like, that's like two or three inches. I'm scared but it's happening. I'm doing it. I need a haircut. Spencer, you need a haircut. You'll get it fixed if it's bad. Okay so I'm supposed to take off like about the same. That's that's a scary amount of hair. Like I don't think you understand how thick. What have I done? Okay. Oh my god. What am I doing? Like, is this actually going to work? I'm scared. I don't feel like I took off that much. I feel like it needs to be more dramatic. Does it? I'm going to have to do it more intense, aren't I? I don't want to do it over again. Okay, I'm going to go put my hair back in ponytails and then I'll cut back to you. Cutting it again. Hold on. They want you to cut off up to your chin. Scary to me. Okay. Ready? Another inch. Hopefully, this looks like something. Can we see any layers? Let's see. Do we see texture? Is there a difference? I can tell that like these pieces are shorter. Maybe I need to dry it. Oh, Okay, I've got layers. I can see that I need to dry it. So, I will be right back. I've blown it out. I've given myself a blowout and this is what it looks like. Are you ready? She's got movement. She's got shape. Things are happening. First of all, I can't believe this worked. Now, I definitely could have gone shorter with like the layers and I think it would be a little bit more intense but I didn't want it to be super intense. If you want the layers to be a little bit shorter, little more intense, then, by all means, cut more off than I did but I love it. Try it. It's scary but you should try it.
