These spheres are turned from grape vines planted in about the 1930’s or 40’s on our farm. I turned these spheres from grapevine trunks, two of them with large root balls. I dyed them and finished it with water-based poly. I assembled the spheres into an unlikely arrangement to make a sculpture of high visual “tension”. The piece stands 23 inches high, and rotates on an embedded lazy susan. I can hear Dionysus, god of grape and wine and drunken revelry, celebrating.
