えんとうばしゃかなぐ 中国　前漢時代 前2世紀-前1世紀 青銅、金、銀 高:26.5㎝　径:3.8㎝ この円筒型の馬車金具は、天蓋の支柱であったと言われている。副葬品として死者の死後の暮らしを彩るものとして作られた。この馬車金具には、彼らが死後に住まう仙境の姿が四段に分かれた精緻な金銀銅の象嵌で描き出されている。異国の珍しい動物達は、祥瑞であり神話の山々に住むと考えられた。雲気漂う空間に、虎、鶴、山鳥、猿、兎、鹿、猪が躍動し、象、駱駝、孔雀、豹といった外来の祥瑞が闊歩する。よく見れば雲気の上に龍、麒麟そして羽人も登場する。その只中で馬に乗りパルティアンショットで後方の虎を射る主人公は、パラダイスの狩人。西方から到来した理想郷と中国伝統の仙境がここに融合している。この墓主の馬車の天蓋を支えた精緻な金具には、死後の至福を求める強い祈りが込められていたことだろう。
