Hike planning gets more difficult with wildfires popping up.

Increasingly I just skip past news coverage of things that annoy me. This has the dual benefit of improving my mental health and making me spend much less time following the news. Today the Economist gave me 15 minutes of my life back by featuring an interview with Elon Musk.

It must be professionally very rewarding to be the NY Times journalist who gets to write the NY Times story U.S. to Withdraw Subpoenas Issued to New York Times Journalists.

I wonder how the discourse around social media would change if we replaced saying “the algorithm” (which implies some nebulous mechanical thing over which people have no control) with “decisions made by people who want to maximize their own profits and power at the expense of society.”
