MADRID, Spain.- The young Cuban diver Maro Alejandro Díaz Jiménez died this week after being attacked by a bull shark in the Puerto Escondido area, Mayabaque province.
The news was released from social networks by his friend and fisherman Yasser Splugas, who explained that after the attack his companions did not leave him alone “not for a moment; had it not been for the seriousness of the injury, they would have saved his life.”
From the Facebook group Defense of underwater fishing in CubaSplugas expressed: “Maro, friend, fisherman, good man, you lost a very hard battle and you left everyone shocked with your departure.”
“It only gives me comfort to know that you started doing what you liked: underwater fishing,” he added.
For his part, the Internet user Omo Eleggua Echubi Okanconfirming the unfortunate event, stressed that it is not the first shark attack on the north coast, and warned bathers to be careful this season.
