After a short hiatus, we’re happy to welcome back one of our favorite producers, Tom Sirztes aka Shur-I-Kan. Since 2009, Tom has been a fixture on the label, with 8 EPs plus exclusives, collaborations and remixes. You can expect new solo material from him on Lazy Days this year, but in the meantime, we have a new collaborative project with Fred Everything. The pair worked together in the past on projects for Tsuba Records and Lazy Days.
Tom is a classically trained keyboard player and Composition X is based on one of his original composition. Originally sent as a basic demo, Fred reworked it by adding beats, keys and additional production. The original mix is based around a main strummed chord theme, backed by an upright bass, strings and a solid rhythm section.
The Dub was created as a bonus beat idea where one of the drum machines triggered a chord on the Juno 60, which inspired a whole new version. The Reprise is just what you would expect, a shorter, mostly beatless version highlighting the main part of the composition.
