***

A hefty and hair-raisingly straightforward selection of nine shimmering, blistering beats. The pedal has embedded itself in the metal. There's no turning back; le Morte d'abby is driving your ears down the supercharged breakbeat electronica highway and she won't be stopping 'til you hit acid nirvana. Every track here will have you itching to dance, or if you're an arrhythmic nerd, daring to drive in the fast lane for a while. Get on this.

INTERVIEW
__________

George Ernst (Triplicate Records): Do you have a personal favourite tune? The one you'd be likely to recommend to newcomers or indeed fans as a microcosm of what Affliction is about? I really like Traversing Networks and Indicators of Compromise for that purpose.

Abigail Lentz (Le Morte d'Abby): I like Traversing Networks, too. It’s a nice techno style mix with good variation.

GE: Can you tell us why you called the record Affliction? My guess was going to be some kind of Need for Speed, judging by the tempo of most of the tunes.

AL: I needed a name that went with the aggressive (infectious?) basslines. ;) This album is my take on DNB, so it’s all at 174bpm.

GE: So ummmmm what kinda packets are you dropping? Mustard? Ketchup?

AL: A little aspartame, the extra soy sauce you get with Chinese takeout, the creamy horseradish from the deli, and lots and lots of pings.

GE: Do you find yourself dancing to your own music ever? I get an irresistible urge to do so whenever I put it on!

AL: Unfortunately, not a big dancer. But, if my head’s not bobbing to it, it has issues.

GE: If this album was a cake, what kind of cake would it be?

AL: 3 layers. 1 each of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. Covered with lots of dark chocolate fudge frosting.

GE: How big was the stone from which you chiselled these nine masterpieces, so to speak? Did you end up with a lot of b-sides?

AL: I never end up with extras after a release. A start out with the foundations for 8 or 9 tracks. And I edit and revise them until I’m happy with the sound. I’ve gutted tracks I had thought were completed before because they didn’t sound right in the end. I have to do it with this way or I would never get anything completed.
