Spellbinders | December 2024 Stitching Die + Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I’m showcasing the December 2024 Monthly Club Kits from Spellbinders. The first card features the “Stitched Notch Corner Card” Stitching Die of the Month and the second card features the “Friendship is Everything” Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month. Club Kits close on the 27th of each month so get them while you can!

The colour palette I chose for this first card includes PoppyClementineWildberry and Mahogany, with gold accents in the form of Mirror Gold CardstockLight Gold Metallic Thread and Satin Gold Hot Foil.

If this colour palette looks familiar to you, I used it in the form of inks in my last post. Isn’t it amazing how the same colours can look so different when used with other products and techniques?

I cut the A2 base panel from Mahogany, the notched frame from Clementine and the stitched frame from Poppy. I cut the leafy base from Mirror Gold Cardstock, the base of the stitched flowers from Mahogany and the stitched top layer from Wildberry.

After all the pieces were die cut, I stitched the Poppy frame and Wildberry flowers with Light Gold Metallic Thread and Satin Gold Hot Foil. As I prepared to adhere the layers, I decided to cut an extra leafy layer from Mahogany cardstock for contrast.

To finish, I heat foiled the sentiment from You Are Everything Sentiments on Mahogany cardstock and secured it to the centre of the card.

The colour palette for my second card also features PoppyClementineWildberry and Mahogany cardstock, with gold accents in the form of Satin Gold Hot Foil and Fashion Gold Embellishments.

Since this month’s glimmer kit features a large floral image, spanning the length of an A2 card, I used my signature tripanel design. The colours, from top to bottom, are WildberryClementine and Poppy.

After slicing the pieces using a guillotine trimmer and taping the pieces tightly together, I trimmed the entire panel down to 4.25″ x 5.5″. Then I heat foiled the floral image using Satin Gold Hot Foil.

Since the first card was so intricate, I wanted to keep this one very clean and simple. The sentiment, also from the same glimmer kit, was also heat foiled with Satin Gold Hot Foil on Mahogany cardstock. After popping on the sentiment with foam squares, I embellished the card with Fashion Gold Embellishments.

Here’s a list of monthly club kits I share, as well as some of the value kits offered by Spellbinders:

Lunar New Year Challenge + Giveaways | November 2024

The Lunar New Year Challenge is back and we've partnered up with your favourite craft companies all year long so that means there are giveaways every month! This month, we're giving away ONE $25 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp, ONE $25 gift certificate to Lawn Fawn, ONE $25 gift certificate to RAM Stamps, and ONE $25 gift certificate to Catherine Pooler Designs. That's a total of $100 in giveaways in November!

My first card for this month features products from Spellbinders and Trinity Stamps available from our October sponsor, Simon Says Stamp. The three main sets featured here are the Stitched Numbers Dies, Mistletoe Greetings Press Plate and the Art Deco Dance Foil Plate.

I've been obsessed with the the Stitched Numbers Dies ever since they were released and have used them many times in the past year, on both new year cards and birthday cards. I typically stitch on all of the numbers but decided it wouldn't be as noticeable to stitch on the Gold Glitter Paper so I only stitched on the Mirror Gold Foil this time.

I alternated the Gold Glitter Paper and Mirror Gold Foil between numbers and their shadows to provide interest against the busier Art Deco Dance Foil Plate, which I heat foiled with Sparkle Red Hot Foil. I love the rich tone-on-tone look with the red foil on Schoolhouse Red cardstock.

All that was needed to finish the card was a simple sentiment and I used Espresso Bean Hot Foil to heat foil the BetterPress sentiment on Nectar cardstock. To finish, I popped all of the numbers and sentiment strip on to the foiled background with foam squares.

The rules are simple. You must create a new Lunar New Year, Chinese New Year or a 2024 Dragon Birthday card and add the link to your post in the link-up party. For November, we're inviting you to continue making 2025 Year of the Snake cardsMultiple entries are allowed. Backlinking to an older project is strictly prohibited.

Our November Lunar New Year Challenge will run from 12:00am EST on November 1, 2024 through 12:00pm EST on November 30, 2024. We would love to see you using products from our four generous sponsors! The four lucky winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entries and announced at the start of the December Challenge.

Spellbinders | October 2024 Large Die + Stitching Die of the Month

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I'm showcasing the October 2024 Monthly Club Kits from Spellbinders. The first card features the "Cozy Toes Slippers" Large Die of the Month and the second card features the "Merry & Bright Cloche" Stitching Die of the Month. Club Kits close on the 27th of each month so get them while you can!

This month I have the pleasure of playing with the "Cozy Toes Slippers" Large Die of the Month and it makes me so giddy. I'm sure you've seen the pyjama pants and slippers with Santa and four other animals! I wanted to work more simply with just the penguin and dress it up with all the accessories.

The "Cozy Toes Slippers" Large Die of the Month comes with a toque, ear muffs, reindeer antlers and a Santa hat in both directions which is a bonus. I wanted to keep the colours simple and consistent throughout.

The colour palette I chose for this first card include Poppy, Clementine and Oceanside, with the basics Onyx, Snowdrift, Glitter White Foam and Matte Gold Foil Paper. After assembling all the penguins and die cutting the accessories, I added gold glasses cut from the Smart Glasses Dies.

I cut the sentiment from Snowdrift, along with shadow banners from Poppy and Matte Gold Foil Paper. Then I cut an A2 panel from Oceanside cardstock and embossed it with the Diamond Plaid Embossing Folder.

I popped up the penguins in a grid pattern with foam squares, then added the sentiment strip to finish the card.

My second card features the "Merry & Bright Cloche" Stitching Die of the Month. I always love each month's stitching die and this one is no exception. I adore cloches and I was so happy to see this one with a Christmas little tree.

This card also uses the colours PoppyClementine and Oceanside, just like my first card. I swapped out the black for Midnight and the plain white cardstock with Glitter White Paper. This card also features Gold Glitter Paper and Matte Gold Foil Paper

After stitching the base of the cloche, tree and trunk using coordinating colours from the DMC Warm Color Floss Bundle, DMC Cool Color Floss Bundle and DMC Diamant Grande Light Gold Metallic Thread, I assembled the cloche using a combination of white liner tape and foam squares.

Then I cut an A2 panel from Glitter White Paper, misted it with water and embossed it with the Sparkling Snow 3D Embossing Folder. This is the first time I tried dry embossing with glitter paper and love the results. It's so sparkly in real life!

After attaching the cloche on to the embossed base panel, I added Fashion Gold Pearls as ornaments on the tree to finish the card.

Here's a list of monthly club kits I share, as well as some of the value kits offered by Spellbinders:

Lunar New Year Challenge | Warm Wishes for the Year of the Snake

Last month, I shared a simpler version of today's card using the Spellbinders Halloween Icons Press Plate & Die Set and I promised to share a different version using the same BetterPress snake so here it is! There are 10 more days until the October Lunar New Year Challenge closes so I wanted to sneak in at least one more inspiration card for this month!

For this card, I created my signature angled panel with Simon Says Stamp's Lipstick Red, Orange Peel and Sunshine cardstock. Then I heat foiled the snakes with Speckled Aura Hot Foil. To get this pattern, I started with the two centre snakes in the same position as last month's card and worked my way out until I had eight snakes. As you may know, the number eight is the most auspicious number in the Chinese culture.

I love the way the Speckled Aura Hot Foil looks like scales and adds so much interest to the snakes themselves. Since this cardstock is fairly textured and the snakes are a BetterPress plate, I had to set my Gemini Foilpress at high heat for one full minute in order to get excellent results.

The sentiment from A Merry Little Christmas Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set was heat foiled using Matte Gold Hot Foil on Nectar cardstock. Just like on the original design, I used the partial die cutting technique with one of the Precision Layering A2 B Dies to cut in into the perfect rectangle.

Our October Lunar New Year Challenge will run from 12:00am EST on October 1, 2024 through 12:00pm EST on October 31, 2024. We would love to see you using products from our four generous sponsors! Concord & 9th | October 2024 Guest Designer | Cottage Charm Stencil Pack

Today is my last guest post for Concord & 9th's October Release and I'm featuring the Cottage Charm Stencil Pack. This pack of four layering stencils is truly charming and you can get very different looks just by switching up the colour palette or even going with a monochromatic look. Aside from using ink pads, you can try embossing pastes to add dimension, texture and shine!

My colour palette for this card is the simplest of all my guest designer cards but it allows the stencilled pattern to shine. The colours I used are Tidepool, Juniper, Blueberry, Eggplant and Matte Gold Foil Paper.

After stencilling, I set the panel aside and cut two strips from Juniper and Eggplant cardstock. I die cut the sentiment from the Short & Sweet Dies using Blueberry cardstock with a Matte Gold Foil shadow, adhering both layers to a Tidepool base.

After attaching all the pieces to the card base and popping up the sentiment with foam tape, I added tiny Gold Enamel Dots to the stencilled panel which finishes the card nicely. The gold elements are reflected in the shadow of the sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed today's project. If you missed my previous posts, you can find those here:

Concord & 9th | October 2024 Guest Designer | True Story Bundle

Hello again! Today's project for Concord & 9th's October Release features the True Story Bundle and this set comes with its own wow factor. It looks amazing no matter how you use it, which is exactly what we want from cardmaking, right? ;)

When I saw the True Story Dies, the very first thing I noticed was the book edge die that cuts the top edge to create a shaped-card! As I mentioned in yesterday's post, having a love for all things book-related means that I love the True Story Bundle just as much as I love the On Display Bundle.

The colours I chose for today's card include all-time favourites Poppy and Nectar, with Grapefruit, Aqua Sky and new-to-me Rainforest. I also included Matte Gold Foil Paper for shine because all the best books have gold foil details! ;)

If you use the book edge die like I did here, your books will always need to be in this order but, if you don't, then you can stack them in any order, whether vertically or horizontally. My books are die cut (from left to right) from PoppyGrapefruitRainforest and Aqua Sky.

The details on the spine of the Poppy novel are cut from Nectar, Grapefruit and Matte Gold Foil Paper, and the sentiment from the True Story Stamp Set was stamped with black ink. On the spine of the Grapefruit novel, I stamped the stripes with black ink, the small words with Poppy ink and the large word with Rainforest ink.

I embossed the Rainforest novel with the Stitched Vines Card Front Die and love how it looks! Then I added flower details using PoppyNectar, Aqua Sky and Matte Gold Foil Paper. For the Aqua Sky novel, I die cut the vines and flowers from Matte Gold Foil PaperPoppyNectar and Rainforest cardstock, then stamped the sentiment with black ink. Behind the card, you'll see one of the new envelope colours in Rainforest.

I hope you enjoyed today's project. If you missed my previous posts, you can find those here:
