Frosted Paper Cosmos Flowers
Cosmos flowers are one of the joys of late summer and my paper cosmos flowers make it possible to enjoy these pretty blooms all year round. Real cosmos come in literally hundreds of different colors, but one of my favorites has to be the chocolate cosmos with it’s deep, dark red and burgundy petals – the perfect Fall flower. For this paper flower I used a rich red and a plum metallic text weight paper. I added a bit of visual texture by using a similar color art marker on both the petals and the leaves. Scoring the petals helps to give a more realistic look and by gently curling the tips of the petals you can add a depth and definition that is rarely found in paper flower designs.

I am trying to get the full tutorial for these flowers but I can’t find a link.
I am a member and have been able to find other tutorials but not this one.
Can you help please?
🙂
Hi Diane,
The photo tutorial has ben added for this project!
These were so fun to make! I didn’t have markers but I used gel pens and prismacolor color pencils.
Thank you for sharing!
Great idea! I’m so glad you loved making them 🙂
Lia, Beautiful! What type of markers do you use?
Thank you! We use Tombow and Copic brush markers here 🙂
Hi Lia,
I love these flowers. You are so inspiring. I have my petals and leaves cut, a pot of coffee on the go and I am looking forward to a lovely morning making these beautiful flowers. I am making a posy for my friend as she renews her wedding vows on her 25th wedding anniversary and your flowers and all the other flowers you have created are all the inspiration I need. I will send a pic when I am happy with it!!!
Thank you so much for all your hard work.
Love to hear your story! Send photos of the finished posy. 😉
Hi Lia–
I made a small bouquet of Cosmos–easy to do and will look great on my desk for fall. I made the leaves the same colors as the flowers and put the red ones on the purple flowers and the purple on the red–just for fun. As you know, my fall arrangement is complete (yay) and I’ve been asked to make a holiday themed piece for a local charity auction. Thanks for all your inspiration!!!
Btw–love the dark wedding bouquet!! I have a friend that has requested a bouquet as a Holiday gift and his favorite color is “Tiffany”blue. Didn’t see anything that quite matched that color on paper-papers but you know the colors best–any suggestions? I love that company. I’ve been buying paper like you wouldn’t believe but I HAVE TO HAVE EVERY COLOR–don’t I?? I’m having a ball.
Thanks again
Susan
Ps–I’ll shoot you a pic of my Holiday arrangement as It comes together.
Xoxo!
All of us in the office love to see your projects, thank you for sharing them!! How fun that you are getting “requests” from friends for bouquets. I cannot think of a Tiffany blue but they have a great customer service team, also sometimes I find other colors at Paper Source.
Thanks Lia
I’ll check paper source. This may be one I have to print out from the laser printer.
Best!

Thank you so much for the beautiful, and inspiring creations you bring to our world ! I have always loved cosmos, although here in the north, one must carefully plan to have them bloom before they freeze ! So, I have become familiar with this, my birth month flower, mostly by its abundant foliage. The foliage I’ve seen is delicate and ferny by best description. Do you have, by any chance, a line on a cut file which might more accurately replicate the real cosmos leaves which I’m familiar with here? Or could one not cut, and wrap such delicate leaves? Just wondering… I do like the leaves which you have provided, just thought the fine would be more” cosmos-like”. Thanks for any ideas you may have, and I truly enjoy perusing ALL of the goodies which you put into every newsletter! Be Well! – Laura B
We decided to not do the Cosmo leaves, it was a bit complicated:-)
What spectacular flowers. They are just incredible, such detail. You have outdone yourself. love all your flowers. Now if I can just get my printer installed and be able to print out patterns, how-to’s so I can get some awesome projects done. Can only try to get them to look like yours. Love the marker details you’ve added, gives flowers dimension. Wish me luck ok? Happy week Forgot to say thank you so much
You are so sweet, thank you! We wish you lots of luck, not that we think you will need it:-)
