H2M architects + engineers
Richard Humann serves as the chairman, president and chief executive officer of H2M architects + engineers, a Melville-based multidisciplinary professional consulting firm that was established in 1933. Licensed in 17 states, Humann is an accomplished professional engineer who directs the firm’s performance, fostering its mission, vision and values. Under his leadership, H2M has expanded from 220 employees to over 580, with 14 offices across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Florida.
H2M’s mission, “Our People, Our Clients and Our Communities,” emphasizes improving the quality of life in the areas across the company’s footprint. Humann underscores the importance of leveraging diverse talent to address built environment challenges sustainably, believing that their work leaves a lasting positive impact.
Beyond his role at H2M, Humann actively participates in many organizations. He is a board member of the HIA-LI, the Long Island Association and The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network). Additionally, he serves on the advisory boards of Stony Brook University’s civil engineering department and the corporate advisory board of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.
Humann’s notable contributions to engineering were recently recognized with the 2024 Engineer of the Year award by the New York State Society of Professional Engineers.
Humann, who holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the New York Institute of Technology, resides in Nesconset with his wife, Patty, and their two daughters, Jessica and Caitlyn. His journey reflects a perfect blend of professional success and personal fulfillment, inspiring many in his community.
