We’ve been quiet since we released “Half Silences”, but it’s because we’re hard at work.

We’re a little over halfway through recording our second album, in the same house where we made the first.  So far it’s full of light, shadows, animal sounds, and interesting problems; and we’ll be working on it for the rest of June.  Then we’ll take a little break to let it settle in our brains before coming back around for a last pass.

But while you wait, here’s some more news (and more music) to tide you over:

1) Emily’s band Cross Record has released a new song, “PYSOL My Castle”, along with a new video.

What does the title mean? Listen to find out. Preorder the new album, Cross Record, out on August 2, here.

2) JM’s band Shearwater is crowdfunding their first new LP since 2016— and there are still three days left in the campaign. Lots more info on that here.

3) Emily Lee’s band Snake Oil has just released a new album, Dying of Sunsets (on which she sings lead vocals!) More about that here.

More soon!

Hi Friends of Loma,

It’s been a minute since we were last in touch, but we can finally share some good news:

Our new album, Don’t Shy Away, is now available for pre-order from Sub Pop.

It’ll be released on October 23rd— but if you pre-order it you’ll be able to stream it at least a month before that. As usual, the first pressing of the vinyl will be special.

This album means a LOT to us—we spent more than a year working on it—and we’ll have more to say (and show) soon. But if you like “Ocotillo”, please share it with anyone you think might like it.

We hope your spirits—and those of all your loved people and animals—are holding up.

XO, and hasta pronto-

Today: two more videos (and songs) from our new album, Don’t Shy Away.

Both the title track, “Don’t Shy Away”, whose video was directed by Dan, and the first song on the album, “I Fix My Gaze”, whose video was directed by Emily. These are two of the dreamier songs on the record, you might say. They’re also some of our favorites.

And if you’re not yet sold on the record, here’s some good news: if you pre-order it from the Sub Pop Mega-Mart right now, you’ll be able to stream it in its glorious entirety on their site starting this Friday. (!!) (Of course, if you prefer to order it somewhere else, we would still very much appreciate it.)

Love to you from us, and thank you for watching and listening -

LOMA

We wanted to play a show to celebrate the release of Don’t Shy Away. Since we can’t, we tried to do the next best thing: just before EC moved to the UK, we met in Texas to perform songs from the album as a three-piece. It’s not the full-band show we’re dreaming of, but it’s us in a room together, which feels like a rare luxury in these quarantine days.

We’ll be releasing one performance per day from the session on our YouTube channel, at 7PM GMT, 3PM Eastern, Noon Pacific. At least one of us will attend on a live chat, and you can ask us about anything under the sun.

October 25: “I Fix My Gaze” live video
October 26: “Loma on Loma” interview
October 27: “Don’t Shy Away” live video
October 28: “Elliptical Days” live video
October 29: “Homing” live video

Facepalm alert: We’ve just learned that the first pressings of the Loma LP and CD are MISSING THE MUSICIAN CREDITS. Please rest assured we don’t think this record played itself! Many thanks to everyone listed here, who will appear in every future pressing:
