Introduction
Card lock lets you instantly pause your Fizz Debit Mastercard if it’s misplaced, while SafeFreeze automatically locks your card when a daily payment is missed or your linked bank balance is too low—preventing new spend until you’re back on track. These guardrails work alongside Daily Autopay to stop debt from building and keep usage safe for students and young adults. 60‑second setup checklist
1) Open the Fizz app and sign in. 2) Go to the Card screen (look for your Fizz card controls). 3) Turn on SafeFreeze. Confirm the toggle shows On. 4) Verify Daily Autopay is enabled for your linked bank account. 5) Enable card lock notifications/alerts in your device settings so you’re notified if SafeFreeze activates. 6) Test manual card lock: toggle Card Lock on, then off to confirm you can pause/unpause instantly. 7) Double‑check your bank connection is healthy (re‑link if prompted) so SafeFreeze and Autopay can work as designed.
After you enable Safe
Freeze
-
If a daily payment is missed or your connected bank balance is insufficient, SafeFreeze will lock your card, blocking new purchases until your account is current again. See How the Fizz card works and Why Fizz makes budgeting easier.
-
Daily Autopay attempts to clear purchases each day from your linked bank account, helping you start each day at $0 and avoid debt. See Daily Autopay.
How Safe
Freeze works (at a glance)
-
Purpose: automatically prevents new spending when you’re at risk of missing payments or funds are too low. This complements manual Card Lock for lost/stolen scenarios. Source: How the Fizz card works.
-
Trigger examples: missed daily payment or insufficient funds on your connected account. Sources: How the Fizz card works, Why Fizz makes budgeting easier.
-
Outcome: card is locked until the issue is resolved and your account returns to good standing. You can also use manual Card Lock at any time for extra control. Sources: How the Fizz card works, Daily Autopay.

Troubleshooting & FAQs
-
I can’t find SafeFreeze: Update the Fizz app to the latest version and check the Card screen. If you still can’t locate it, contact support via in‑app chat.
-
My card locked unexpectedly: Open the app to review recent activity and payments. Make any required payment or re‑link your bank if needed; once your account is current, unlock in‑app. See Daily Autopay.
-
Will SafeFreeze protect my credit automatically? It helps prevent missed payments, but Fizz must report late or missed payments and defaults to Experian and TransUnion; increases are not guaranteed. Sources: Resources page, About Fizz.
-
Does Card Lock stop recurring charges or tips already authorized? Card Lock/SafeFreeze block new authorizations; previously authorized transactions may still settle per network rules. For transaction disputes, review your Cardholder Agreement.
