about

The new record was recorded over the course of a week in Flerbruket studio. All the music is written and arranged by Lyder and was recorded with everyone in the same room without any post-work or editing apart from mixing and mastering.

This constellation was put together by Lyder in 2023 after he had played with each musician in different settings over a number of years. These musicians are some of Lyder's absolute favourites and form a perfect combination for the music being played. The members are known for their work with, among others, Fieh, Tigerstate, Philip Granly trio, General Post Office and Gabriella Garrubo.

The new music of the Lyder Røed quintet is real and honest. Inspired by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Nat Adderley, generally much of the jazz music that was played in the 60s and not least Roy Hargrove from more recent times. Since the first album - The Moon Doesn't Drink - the music has developed and moved more towards the American jazz tradition, but still has one foot or at least a couple of toes placed in the Norwegian jazz landscape!
