For me a truly enjoyable show. I'm always surprised at how truly moved I am. I see this show as a story about an honorable man in extraordinary circumstances, and how he tries to navigate life with the utmost honor and integrity. It is one of the few shows that is unafraid to go into difficult history such as slavery or the holocaust, which in a realistic sense truly inform our lives. The tension between the leading characters, in this atmosphere of integrity, is not so much "will they or won't they" but "should they or shouldn't they"? Brave and wonderful and moving, and respectful of an adult audience by showing adults making conscious decisions about relationships and taking responsibility for the emotional toll of those relationships.
