- In this episode the idea of "Immaculate conception" is discussed, when a young nun is discovered to be pregnant. She, of course, claims that the pregnancy is not by a man, but rather God. The principal or perceived understanding of Immaculate Conception is misunderstood, and incorrectly perpetuated in this episode.
"Immaculate conception" in the Christian belief does NOT refer to a woman becoming pregnant without sexual intercourse with a male (which results in a "Virgin Birth"); with the prime example incorrectly given as Mary becoming pregnant with Jesus.
What "Immaculate conception" DOES refer to is the belief that Jesus' mother, Mary, was conceived (and thus born) without Original Sin.
"Immaculate conception" and "Virgin Birth" are two different, unrelated concepts.AddedSep 18, 2020 - also known as: The Paris MurdersAddedJul 3, 2022
