In remembrance of the comedy legend, which of these selected John Candy movie characters is his most memorable? On October 31, 2025, we mark the 75th anniversary of the birth of John Candy, who was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada on October 31, 1950. In honor of this milestone, please support the grassroots movement to adopt "The Candys" as the official nickname for the Canadian Screen Awards , which are intended to recognize Canadian accomplishments in film, television, and digital media. The nickname will give the award some personality, add some fun to the awards and put it on par with the other major awards from other countries that already have their own endearing nicknames. The nickname will serve as a tribute to the late actor, highlight the Canadian film and television industry itself, and demonstrate some national pride at the same time due to the nickname's multiple interpretations.
