Emil Lorrison
- Emil Lorrison: [making a blackmail payoff to his mistress] I couldn't raise the whole amount, only half. That's all I'll be able to raise.
- Lucille 'Lucky' Colner: Oh, come on now, sweetie. That isn't what Dun and Bradstreet says. They give you a double "A" rating.
- Emil Lorrison: Those ratings mean nothing. Fifteen thousand was all I could manage.
- [angrily]
- Emil Lorrison: The entire affair was a filthy frame-up!
- Lucille 'Lucky' Colner: [with contempt] Take a look at yourself, Grandpa. First you sell yourself I'm nuts about you, crazy for your manly charms. And now you think this is bargain day. Well, go on down to Gimbel's Bargain Basement! You're in the wrong department! Take that other fifteen grand out of your pants or get out! I got a dinner date.
- [pauses, continues with a smirk]
- Lucille 'Lucky' Colner: I could do business with your wife.
- Stanley Simon: [Detective Stanley Simon is questioning Emil Lorrison about Lucille "Lucky" Colners' murder] You must understand our position sir, this is a murder case. We must follow every possible lead for information
- Emil Lorrison: Well how would I know anybody of that type? A woman who gets herself murdered
- [Lorrison gets up to get a cigar]
- Stanley Simon: Your name was in her address book
- Emil Lorrison: My name must be in many address books, hundreds of them. Light up officer.
- [He lights his own cigar then Simon comes over to get a cigar]
- Emil Lorrison: You know I'm a broker, a businessman. Why shouldn't my name by in address books. I do business with thousands
- Stanley Simon: [Lorrison goes to light Simon's cigar but he puts it in his jacket pocket] With Lucille Colner?
- Emil Lorrison: No. Not that I know about that is. You can check with my head bookkeeper
- Stanley Simon: Thank you sir, I'll talk to your bookkeeper now
- [He leaves]
