Bud Alexander

Bud Alexander: [a motorcycle cop comes up on the car Tommy's driving] I hope he has his license.
Lou Francis: I hope he's in the car!
Officer: [at the back window] Pull over to the side!
Lou Francis: [points to the front seat] Tell him, he's driving!
Officer: [moves up, looks at the empty driver seat] I said pull over to the...
[stops in a daze, cut to him on the psychiatrist couch looking at the doctor's watch]
Dr. James C. Turner, Police Psychiatrist: Now tell us again what you saw.
Officer: I told you three times already.
Det. Roberts: Well tell it to him again.
Officer: I saw a car with nobody driving somebody.

Lou Francis: [about graduating] This is the greatest thing that ever happened to me, how did I ever graduate?
Bud Alexander: [whispering] I slipped the guy twenty bucks. Now keep quiet.

Bud Alexander: [grabbed by the invisible man] Oh no! It's Tommy Nelson, Lou, he's here!
[grabs the air]
Bud Alexander: I touched him!
[gets slapped]
Lou Francis: I think he touched you back.

[Last lines]
[after briefly turning invisible, Lou reappears with his legs on backwards. As he tries to comprehend what's going on, Bud happens to notice him]
Bud Alexander: That's just like you, you get everything backwards! Come on!
[Lou tries to run towards him, but because of how his legs are on backwards, he ends up running away from him. He proceeds to crash through a door]

[Following graduation, Bud and Lou have set up a detective's office. Lou is shown with a pipe in his mouth and wearing a deerstalker cap. He hangs his diploma on the wall before looking at it with a magnifying glass]
Bud Alexander: Hey, you've been seeing too many Sherlock Holmes pictures lately, take off that cap. A detective has to dress so he won't attract much attention.
[Lou looks at his magnifying glass before he suddenly puts it in his mouth and starts licking it]
Bud Alexander: Come on, put that down, that is not a lollipop!
[Lou stops licking the magnifying glass]
Bud Alexander: Look, turn on the police calls. Hurry up! Might tip us off to something.

Lou Francis: Hey, she called him Tommy. That's Tommy Nelson, the escaped killer.
Bud Alexander: Oh, stop jumping at conclusions. What would an escaped killer want two private detectives for?
Lou Francis: So he can catch himself?
Bud Alexander: So he can...
[Bud stops as he realizes what he just heard. With that, he grabs Lou and drags him into a room]
Bud Alexander: [grumbling] Oh, come on...

[in the middle of a foggy forest, Bud Alexander can be seen standing next to a car. Seconds later, Lou Francis comes into view and approaches Bud]
Bud Alexander: Was he in there?
Lou Francis: Yes, he was unpackin', and I'm packin'.
Bud Alexander: [annoyed] What are you talking about? What did you see?
Lou Francis: A empty woods full of Tommy Nelson.

[in a set of foggy woods, Lou Francis and Bud Alexander can be seen speaking about Tommy Nelson's whereabouts]
Bud Alexander: Now don't give me that invisible stuff again.
Lou Francis: Honest. And there were footsteps with no feet. And the grip that was unpacking itself.

[in a set of foggy woods, Lou Francis and Bud Alexander are speaking with one another beside a car. As they are talking, Tommy Nelson enters the view, his faced swathed in bandages. He walks up to the duo]
Tommy Nelson: All right, boys, let's go.
[Lou shrieks in fright as his hat flies off his head before he dives under the car before reappearing on the opposite side]
Bud Alexander: Hey, that's some disguise, Tommy. The cops will never recognize you.
Tommy Nelson: I'm not gonna get near and cops. And I'm counting on you guys to help me.
Bud Alexander: You can trust me.
Lou Francis: Tommy.
[Lou walks over to Nelson]
Lou Francis: You can trust me, too, Tommy.
Tommy Nelson: Thanks. Let's shake on it.
[Lou is somewhat hesitant as Tommy holds out his hand. After a few seconds, Lou smiles nervously as he takes Tommy's hand and shakes it]
