    Fascinating Technicolor Short

The publicity sheet says the film was co-directed by Hawkesworth and Hamer, produced by Hawkesworth. Theatrically released in the U.K. by Warner Bros in August 1956, the 984-feet Technicolor short ran 11 minutes.

SYNOPSIS: The England of the Napoleonic Wars as interpreted by painter and caricaturist, Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1827).

COMMENT: The director of Kind Hearts and Coronets, Father Brown and To Paris with Love has once again united with his favorite star, Alec Guinness, to produce a vigorous slice of entertainment. This time his subject is Rowlandson's England as depicted in the artist's often rough but brutally accurate illustrations. All told, this little film provides a fascinating glimpse of a long-vanished world.
